i should be more specific ~ a lobster tail. (not soup, sauce or salad)
( can be a resort, a park or DTD)
and how should i expect to pay for two lobster dinners?

thank you

Tina

also, it needs to be a child friendly place, we will have DD9 along.

if you have photos, could you please sahre them here?

thank you

I had the fried lobster tail at Fultons in DTD and it was out of this world. Pics are in my Oct link

I was thinking about getting lobster and steak at Narcoosee's in December? Can anyone tell me if their lobster is really good?

The Whole Maine is a lot better than the Lobster Tails. The lobster tails at Narcoossee's are frozen and IMO are on par with what you get at Red Lobster.

The Whole Maine Lobster was very good.

There are different kinds of Lobster.

Most people think of what is called Maine Lobster when they are talking about lobster. Maine Lobster is served at Narcoossees by itself.

The smaller warm water lobsters found in the waters off Florida are also called Lobsters.

Many places serve warm water lobster and call it Lobster. But it is not what people expect when they get it. I believe the Narcoossees surf and turf is the warm water lobster tail.

Be sure to check on that seemingly small detail. They are both "Lobster", but they have very different flavors.

The lobster meal and the surf and turf at Narcoossees are $55 per person plus tax and tip, drinks and dessert. The meal easily went over $200 for 2 of us.

thank you

that just might be a tad to steep for us.
- back to the drawing board.

Lobster is one of the most expensive items on any menu. Often, is it marked at "market price" and not a fixed cost. It can be an expensive experiment if you don't like it.

If you've never had lobster before, please don't get a whole one. With just the tail, it'll be easy to get the meat out. With the whole thing, you will have to deal with the claws and the body and it just isn't pretty.

Honestly, if you've never had lobster before, try it at home first. You can get frozen lobster tails at your grocery store just for a taste. You'll save the expense if you don't like it. It certainly is not the same as fresh but lobster is one thing I would not experiment with.

Woah! I'm dyin' here...We live on the coast of NH and my husband had a triple (yup, 3) lobster dinner on Friday night for $19.95. Granted, they were chix, about one lb each...but holy cow!

Just one more reason I'm glad we live where we live!

OP-If you do find a lobster dinner to have at the World, I hope you enjoy. It's truly one of my favorites! :thumbsup2

I totally understand what you're saying! I live Mid-Coast Maine.. This time of year lobster is cheap. I paid about $4 a pound for 1.25's last week.

I should have mentioned that the Narcoossees meal we had on the dining plan..but I remembered the cost...Insane really, but I guess if you do not live here... well, you know :)

LOVED the review of Fultons
can ask what your total bill was?

thank you

Tina

I think with tip is was $140, cannot remember but I did have cocktails and DH had coffee with our dessert (that was free)

The Maine lobster at Narcoosee's in our experience is under 2 lbs., tough and not worth the $59 they charge for it.

Thank the lord I dont like lobster! I too am from NE. BJs Wholesale was selling 6+ lb lobsters at $7 per pound! 1 1/2 - 2 was $4.99 last week. I should buy up some of those and sell them to Disney.

Got to go build me a lobster trap...

At Narcoossee's they only serve the claws and the tail (all pre-cracked) without the body when you order a whole lobster. Some people actually prefer the claw meat over the tail meat. My father's side of the family is from Carver, MA so I asked for the who shebang and they had no problem serving the whole lobster (body included) but it was a special request.

This used to be the best-kept secret in WDW, but I'm assuming they don't do it any more.

Cape May Cafe had lobsters in a tank, but never mentioned it on the menu for the clambake. On one of our Jan/Feb trips, we were one of only two tables full of people there, so we talked to the chef. He was happy to make us some special dishes - he made a special seafood pasta dish and then mentioned that he could steam lobsters from the tank. So, for our $19.99 (I think, in about 1995), we got fresh steamed lobsters as part of the buffet.

Ah, the good old days :hippie:

I agree the Lobster at Narcoosees is tough. We thought ours was just overcooked, but sounds like it is typical.

Fulton's is amazing.

All will be expensive.

When I first wanted to try Lobster, we simply ordered it as a side add-on to a dish we knew we would like. That way, while yes it was expensive, we still got tot ry it and not go hungry if we didn't like it. Most places will allow it as an add-on to other dishes, prices vary.

The Lobster Feast or Experience (cant remember what it was called) at Fultons is really good. Lobster and Crab plus sides for around $85 per person.

In WDW you're paying the plane fare for the lobster to fly down from somewhere in the northeast. Would you believe a great many so-called "Maine lobsters" are harvested off the coast of New Jersey.
Come to Maine and have certified Maine lobster the way it should be! :thumbsup2
