what room/building requests should I make, and when do I do that?

Thanks!

the building is all one building. Did you book Standard or Water view?

if you booked standard you can request a view of the gardens but you might not get it, as requests are never a guarantee and request a full balcony.

You need to give your requests when you book your room.

well, you will have to request a water view room to be sure you dont get a parking lot view. when you make your reservation, ask for a high floor room with a balcony. i think those three things will make your chances of getting a money view much greater! :3dglasses

good luck!

Actually, those are very difficult requests to make, as there aren't many rooms that have a full balcony AND a non-parking lot view. You can request a full balcony and a garden view, but you might have to choose one or the other (and remember, based on availability, you may end up with a standard room only balcony WITH a parking lot view).

Ok, thanks everyone. I"ll be spending 4 days hanging around the resort while dh is attending a conference there, so I"d like a nice view. For those rooms with a small balcony, can at least one person sit out there and read?
Oh, we have standard view room.

Can you switch your ressie over to the Yacht Club? There you would surely get a nice size balcony.

Both resorts are 'conference resorts' and therefore we get a discounted rate. Unfortunately the discounted rooms at YC (our preferenc) were booked before dh registered for the conference. :sad1:

We had an awsome room at the YC in 2003....that's me waving at the bottom left opposite the turret:

Here is the standing room only balcony that we had:

I took the chair in the room and put it out on the balcony to sit on. There was just enough room.

We had a room with a view towards Epcot and the woods. While we couldn't see too much, at night we were able to see most of the high fireworks from IllumiNations.

I dont know if this is because it was on the Concierge level or what. But our room facing the parking lot did infact have a pretty nice sized balcony. The both of us were able to sit there and relax over a couple of beers. Luckily for us, there was a huge group taking a bus to their Disney Cruise so that added a little bit of entertainment. :p

Conciege level rooms do have nice balconies on the front of the resort. However Standard rooms do not.

We had a great room in June 2004. It was a standard view with a full-size balcony. Our view overlooked a courtyard area looking across to the Villas. It worked out great as we were on the 2nd floor and could easily just go up the open staircase to the 2nd floor. We were about the 3rd room down so the location was perfect.

I'll try to post a picture. I hope it works.

Wow, I'd be happy with that view when I go in Feb. I asked for a standard view, non-smoking, full balcony with day bed. I asked about garden view and she said the computer would not accept it??? Oh well.

Have you considered a ground floor room? We booked two std. rooms. Requested two connecting rooms, garden view, full balcony. I also requested to have anything other than a parking lot view. We checked into two connecting rooms on the ground floor on a beautiful courtyard. This was the first time I've stayed in a room on the ground floor. I usually request a high floor. But since the BC rooms do not all have a full balcony, I left out the high floor request. We loved the location.

We were able to check into one room when we arrived. Since the patio areas were only separated by small shrubs, we quickly moved the chairs from the room next door over to our table and sat outside discussing what we would do that day. Didn't realize that the folks in our connecting room did a late check out. I can only imagine what they thought when they saw us on their patio removing their chairs!

Being able to walk to our rooms without waiting for the elevator or climbing the stairs after a long day was great. Next time I stay at the BC, if I'm not booked into a water view, I will definitely add ground floor to my reqest. :flower:

We had a ground floor at the YC (see pic I posted above) and love it. This is a great idea!

We have stayed at the BC twice and didn't book a lake view. Like you, we wanted a non-parking lot view and a full balcony. Both times, about 3 days prior to check-in I sent in a fax request asking in a nice way if it would be possible to get a full balcony and a view of something other than a parking lot. Both times our wish was granted. The last time, which was this summer, I asked if they received my fax request. She looked at the computer and said "yes, a full balcony and a nice view...we've got you taken care of." So, that proves they at least sometimes pay attention to fax requests.

Oh, one more thing. I also requested a full balcony when I made my reservation.

I always send my fax to the attention of "front desk" - I never say "room controller." I think that's an old term that backfires.

Good luck.
