I am planning to buy 3 day parkhoppers and upgrade to an AP, but my final parkhopper day will be a blockout day (a Saturday)... after I upgrade, can I still get in the park that day? How does that work?

Thank you!

You can enter on the day you upgrade.

Thank you, do they give you something for your re-entry? We are thinking of going early Saturday morning, then going back to check out of the hotel, maybe do some pool time and then possibly return to the parks depending on how tired we are/crowds.

You enter the Park with your 3-day Parkhopper. Upgrade to your AP. Point out that your AP is blocked out for the day and you need something for FastPasses and re-entry. They will issue you a Blockout Exception ticket. You then use that for FPs and (along with a handstamp) for re-entry.

this has been my experience when upgrading, this has happened to me twice, once with our first AP's in 2007, again with our last AP's in April 2011......

We had purchased park hoppers, we upgraded our last day of use which was a blackout day. We did NOT need a blockout ticket, our brand new AP's worked just fine for admission, hopping AND fastpass gathering. We did not need to mention we were upgrading on a blackout day, we simply went to the ticket booth or the AP processing center (which no longer exists) and upgraded, paid the difference, did the photo, left with our new AP's. Unless they've changed something since last April you will not need a blackout exception ticket.

We upgraded our hoppers to an AP this past August on a Blockout day. We were not given a blockout pass for the day. Our new APs were handed to us at that time and there was no problem with enrty, fastpass or re-entry.

Just sharing what we experienced when DH upgraded from a 3-day PH to an AP. He was issued a special Blockout Day ticket since his AP was no valid on that day.

I understand, so are we. :) I don't think your DH's experience was normal tho, others have also said they did not need a special blackout day pass on the day they purchased or upgraded to an AP that would normally be blocked. Now, the day we DID go to the parks on a blackout day we DID pay the fee and we DID get the blackout exception pass that we used to get fast passes and for park admission and hopping. :)

Was the AP you had blocked out on that day? His was. Maybe that was the difference.

As for paying on a blockout day, yep, worked as you described when we did that too.

yes, they were blocked out. In April 2011 we had 1 Premium AP (for DBF) and 3 Deluxe, we upgraded to the 3 Deluxe APs ON Saturday to avoid having to pay the blackout fee, we did not need additional ticketing paperwork for that day. Same thing in 2007.
