If I try to buy more, slap my hand!!

Well I have bought one gift so far. And to top it off my nerve in the backside is acting up so I cant get up and walk. I am saving money. BACK AWAY FROM THE STORES AND THE COMPUTER I AM WATCHING YOU!! :rotfl2:

I am in the exact same boat. I started out with a simple list of about 6 things for each of my children but that has easily doubled in the last 2 weeks. I just ordered my ds a pillow pet because I think he'll be mad if he doesn't get one too. So now I need one more thing for my dd so they have an even amount to open. (Trust me, they keep track.)

I just placed an order for those flying monkeys after I swore I was done! I am two gifts short for DD as I have to keep the gifts "even" as well. I just keep buying.

I'm like a dealer for Amazon junk....pppssstttt hey buddy, want a link? It's a good deal....

This is how my email looks today. Thanks for registering! Order confirmed. Order shipped. Order shipped. Tracking details for your order... lol

I've actually been pretty good, although I'm not done with my in-laws. I joined the no-buy thread this month to help me, and I've replaced shopping with going to the gym. It's working so far!!!

I do great with a pre determined budget. I spend what is set aside and don't think twice about it. However this year we got a larger than normal bonus (they had done away with it the last 2 years and brought it back unexpectedly) and a windfall we weren't expecting.

Well .. let's just say I've been far more generous this year than years past:rolleyes1 It's silly, because the budget we set was adequate, but I am really liking having some extra to spoil people that I don't usually have very much to spend on gifts for.

I say that every single day. My son's birthday is 11/29, then Christmas, so there's always tons of stuff being bought. I swore I was done 2 weeks ago but then got the UCommand Buzz Lightyear, and a TS3 figure set on Black Friday. I usually end up with packages arriving right up until Christmas Eve. I'm soooo bad!

For the first time in a few years I'm actually excited for Christmas. So I've both scaled back on what I used to spend like 5 years ago but I'm spending more than I have the last three years. But yeah I keep finding people to buy for. Since I'm actually excited for Christmas it has me in a really giving mood so I'm buying presents for people I don't normally buy for. I have ran out of my Christmas fund so all of those enticing emails I've recieved (I'm talking to you 40% off of Tarte cosmetics or 25% off of Urban Decay) I'm just deleting them as soon as I see them. :sad1:

Yeah. I said I was done too, and then I remembered that my mom really coveted the digital frame I got for my brother last year. So today I bought one for her.

Luckily, I have not spent all of my Christmas Club money yet.

I saved $25 a week, and in the first week of November got a check for $1250. Can't tell you how much stress that takes away- to know you have the money and can shop guilt free. If you don't have a Christmas club at your bank, look into starting an ING account for next years Christmas. It will make your holiday much merrier ! :-)

Great tip! I'm going to try that next year. I've thought about a Christmas Club, but never thought about just how that money adds up.

To the OP, you are NOT ALONE!! It seems like because something is a "good deal" that I have to get it.....just keep getting suckered on it.

I fall into that trap every year. What I've started doing is putting the excess gifts away for the future. I have a big cupboard in my garage and once my gift list is finished anything else I buy goes into the cupboard (or gets switched with one of the gifts I've already gotten). I always have a great stash of gifts!

ROFL! :lmao: Yep, Amazon has gotten lots of my business this year. I found that I love filling my cart then just waiting to see the prices change every day for awhile. When I think they hit a low, then I place the order. Now I just need to make sure I've gotten everything I ordered.

I may have to try the Club idea next year. I have been using our pre-tax health $ as our holiday fund but this year needed to use it to pay for med stuff that was above what our regular budget could handle. I usually save up the receipts for what we've paid out of pocket & get reimbursed in Nov.

I also have more spirit this year and it feels great! We have less $ to spend but I have carefully thought out all presents & know that I'm pretty much done. We need to do some pictures for cards I'm determined to send then cookie baking and deliver treats next!

Maybe we need to start a support group. I keep thinking I am done but then find something else for someone in my family. (My extended family already celebrated Christmas so they all have their gifts.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Ack-- tell me about it! I was done $100 ago, and still have $25 more planned. After that, I am DONE, DONE, DONE!!
Should have been awhile ago, but I really do just love Christmas shopping!

Me too! I just bought my DD a snowman swimsuit and the deals keep on calling me but I am ALL DONE.

I've never seen a snowman swimsuit - where did you find it? Are you going swimming somewhere this winter or will she wear it in the summer?

Me, too! DD actually has a little stash put back for her July bday :rotfl: There's also one thing I gave away as a birthday gift this weekend to one of her buddies and another item that will likely end up going to DS's friend for Christmas. It's nice to have a little "pile" to go to when you need a gift (instead of running out to the store, scouring shelves, etc...)
