...and am using DCL transfers to the port, would an 8:40 ADR at Garden Grill be feasible? Or should I stick with Cape May Cafe or keep looking for a Bon Voyage Breakfast?

You will have plenty of time. remember you are going to be stuffing your face during your cruise. But if that’s what you want you do have plently of time.get yourself a frozen past pass also or whatever you like you will have the time.

Well, yes. But I still need to eat breakfast. :)

As an extended family, we found the Cape May breakfast to be the perfect way to start the day we headed to the port. It is one of my favorite memories!

I do love Cape May...buffets can be challenging as a solo, though. But Disney is better than other places...

Should be totally do-able but I remember a friend 30+ years ago saying “never trust a bus”.

Well, I prefer the food at Cape May to Garden Grill, but that's not quite what you're asking. The pick up is likely to be after 1030, but Garden Grill is one of the restaurants that can get a little bit backed up in the morning. I would be concerned that you might have to rush your meal if the bus pick up is relatively early. Plus you would have to allow the time to walk back from the land pavilion to the hotel.

If you are not an AP holder, do you really want to use a park ticket(s) for breakfast?
...Minnie van, Wave Buffet, Minnie van... ??

I am an AP holder. And The Wave holds zero interest for me as do the overpriced Minnie Vans when I can do a regular Lyft for less than half the cost.

Are you only interested in Character meals/buffets? If not, the Ale and Compass at the YC is fantastic. It has an excellent menu. I know you are GF but I'm sure they can work with you. Their Blueberry Bacon Pancakes are phenomenal!! I had them twice during my solo trip in September.

I haven't really looked into it before. The allergy-friendly menus for lunch and dinner anyway are less than inspired and more limited than most places. Not a big blueberry fan either (so I was glad to learn that apparently blueberries are big in Quebec? scratch that. LOL.)

Yeah, doesn't sound like that will work for you. I'm sure you will find something to meet your needs. :)

Thanks! I did take a look - looks like for gluten-free it's eggs (various options) or shrimp and grits. Not opposed to those as a rule...but when I know other locations can do waffles and pancakes gluten-free, it's disappointing to find places that cannot.

There always is Beach Club Marketplace where they can do gf Mickey waffles.

Or maybe I'll go outside the box and stay at AKL and eat at Boma. I could pick up some gluten-free zebra domes to take with me too... Hmm...

The breakfast at Garden Grill is super quick -- you will have gobs of time to meet all the characters, eat, ride a few rides, and get back to the hotel. As a tip, assuming the park opens at 9am that day, pretty much all the pre-park breakfast times are treated interchangeably, so you don't have to wait until 8:40 if you are worried about time. We always show up at 8am for later PPO reservations (e.g., 8:30/8:45) and get seated almost right away. The restaurant is never full then.

We had an 8:05 reservation there and it took about 45 minutes to an hour for the entire meal. Even with the reservation being at 8:05 it took a few minutes to get the table and then it took a while to order, get the food, etc. I know that we got out of there right around 9, maybe a couple minutes before, because we booked it over to the Frozen ride and were one of the first people on it (park opened at 9 that day.) IDK what time the transfers are, but assume about an hour for breakfast, including walking to and from the gate to the restaurant.

The earliest transfers are at 10am, but a lot of them are considerably later; either way, plenty of time to eat and get back.
