how does that work? Do you end up buying tickets at the regular cost? What about adding DDP? Just trying to figure out price rental of points, tickets and DDP.....or can it all be part of a package?

Thanks for the help, I'm a bit confused right now:confused3 LOL Been a long day!

You can have the DVC member you're renting from add the DDP plan to your reservation. You would pay for it at check-in.

As for tickets, you can pretty much buy them any way you want -- from Disney, from a discount broker, online, in person when you get there, etc. You can't add them to the DVC reservation through the member as far as I know. There's no discounts on tickets for DVC members anyway.

Packages are not available with DVC points. Everything is handled separately.

Keep in mind that the DDP must be added to the reservation at least 48 hours before your check-in date. It cannot be added last minute.

If you are renting through a member, they control the reservation at all times. Disney is not involved in any way in these rentals. So if you have problems, they are between you and the member. You won't be able to call Member Services for any reason, even to confirm the reservation.

Having the member set up DDP and DME are not options that you "can" have the member take care of. The member MUST make those arrangements for you -- because as Deb said, you can't talk to Member Services.

It's no big deal, but don't leave it until the last minute because you have to rely on the member to handle it for you.

Thanks everyone! :thumbsup2 I wasn't sure how it worked with tickets and DDP. So lets see if I got it:

-11 months before can rent points from a home resort, 7mos for non-home resort, points are for resort only
-have the member add the DDP (Whats DME? Magical Express?), I pay for that at check in
-I take care of tickets in what ever fashion I please (AAA, at the gate, discount broker and so on)

Do I have it?

Thanks!:)

Almost. As far as the points go, they are not for the home resort only. They can be used at any DVC property but there are booking rules that are governed by what the home resort is. For example, we have Old Key West and Hilton Head points. I can book at those resorts 11 months in advance. I can also use those points at the other DVC properties 7 months in advance. Therefore, you'll want to find someone who owns at the resort you want to stay at so you can take advantage of the 11-month window. So if you want to stay at the Beach Club Villas look for BCV owners, if you want to stay at Old Key West look for OKW owners, etc.
