If I have a completely paid reservation but...

an AP discount comes around for the same hotel, can I get the discount? Will they just credit my cc or send me a check?

You have to cancel the original reservation, and rebook the discounted room (although I've heard people say you can get around this-- this seems to be the way it is done most of the time-- at least this is how my TA did it each time). I don't remember if my debit card was credited, or the extra amount was just put toward the extra nights-- so I'm guessing if your ressie was completely paid for, they would credit your card.

In the past we've had room-only reservations (these did not include a dining plan package though, that might make a difference ) that were already paid in full when an AP rate became available and when I called about the new rate they just went in and modified the ressie - the difference was credited to our credit card pretty quickly.

I have also changed resorts previously on a paid in full ressies where they went in and modified to the new resort and refunded $$$ to my card (or I had to add $$ if the new one was more) - in the past I have been known to change my mind, ahem, lets just say, often... just ask my poor DH. "I thought we were staying at the CR" as we drive up to the AKL

I just kept watching (and watching!) for deals and called just as soon as they became available, so I could be sure the availability in my category had a good shot of still being there....

Yeah, that's what we have...room reservations only. Our stay is during the F&W fest so I'm not holding my breath that there will be any AP discounts then...but you never know so I keep watch. We're at BC

When we applied a pin code to a paid in full room only, they put the credit on our room charge. That was in 2004 though.
