If I didn't care for Boma would I like Jiko or Saana?

I tried Boma in May and while I loved the ginger carrot soup and the desserts I did not care for any of the meat selections. Do you think I would have the same problem in Jiko or Saana? I am a picky eater so buffets usually work well for me with unusual foods. :)

Maybe yes. Maybe no. It's a different menu... but if you're a picky eater you might not like them. The menus are here on the Dis for you to browse. But Jiko is expensive enough that I don't think you should take a chance if there's any chance you won't like it.

I am also one of the few here that dislike Boma. The food was either flavorless or tasted oddly of cinnamon.

I also didn't care for Jiko, the food was mediocre, the service was awful. It was not worth 2 TS credits.

However..... we loved Sanaa! It was one of our favorite meals and we will be dining there again this year. ...and it's only 1 TS credit.

We are not picky eaters, though.

I would say that you can get a lot more familiar foods at Jiko and also if you were worried about something being to ethnic or out of your comfort zone I am sure that they could do the meat a little more plain for you there. I think at Sanaa just because of the nature of the dishes (curries etc) it would be harder to alter them to your preference. I love both restaurants and don't find either of them to be really ethnic at all but I can see how Sanaa would be a stretch if you are a picky eater, Jiko I think you would be much better off.

We had put off Jiko until recently as some our normal companions are sensitive to spicy and unusual foods.

That was a huge mistake:confused3.The service was impeccable:thumbsup2 and the food was delectable:cloud9:.Spicy to just a little less than TexMex or Thai and very conventional presentations. The pix both food and restaurant and the menus here and on other sites are very helpful to pre-try a place.

We don't do dining plans other than TIW so we have no prejudices based on pricing. The food has to survive on it's merits.

While Jiko's appetizers are a bit more adventurous, their entrees are much tamer than Boma's food. The only entree I've had that I thought had a "bite" to it was the chicken. The beef (filet and ribs) and the fish have had mild flavoring.

Sanaa is a unique taste; different than both Boma and Jiko. If you don't like Indian food, chances are you won't enjoy this either. There are some entrees that aren't as spicy but everything we tried definitely had a distinct flavor to it.

We love all three of these restaurants, but as previous posters have said, they're pretty different.

I think the food at Boma, while I love it!, is a bit more "for the masses," as in less spiced, milder, etc. Sanaa has a strong Indian influence, so if you don't like Indian food, I'd skip it. One of the things I like about Jiko is that the chefs are always experimenting with recipes, so there's something new every time you go. The tandoori chicken is the best chicken I've ever had! :cloud9:

To the above poster who said Jiko's food was mediocre and service awful, I'd urge you to try it again. We've always had wonderful food at Jiko, and almost always had wonderful service. A couple of times our servers have let us down, but for the most part it's been great.

I'd say check out the menus (but remember that Jiko's changes seasonally, tho certain items like the filet are always there) and see if it sounds good. :hippie:

We were not big fans of Boma Dinner, we went once and have no plans at this stage to return, the food just wasn't to our liking. We did however love Boma breakfast, its our favourite at WDW.

But Jiko is also one of your favourite restaurants! We absolutely love it. Can't help with Saana as we haven't been there and it's not actually on our list for our next trip, but Boma breakfast is and so is two Jiko dinners. I would give Jiko a try as it's not the same as Boma.

We didn't like Boma at all--everything tasted like warmed over buffet food with way too much cinnamon.

However, Jiko is one of our favorite restaurants at WDW. It was nothing like Boma at all. If you're worried, there are some pretty safe entrees there, like the "Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon - with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce." My wife got that, and it was incredible. You can get a bit more adventurous with the appetizers. I say go for it!

We're going to Sanaa on our next visit.

Disliked Boma - one of the spices really tore my stomach up and I hate the loudness and it doesn't feel like there is enough room between the "pods". On the other hand - Jiko is my FAV. We don't make a trip to WDW without a dinner at Jiko. The service has always been adequate and usually it has been excellent. We love the food and the wine.

Ate at both during our trip last month. I liked Boma but if I had to choose I preferred Jiko. It's completely different, then again we had breakfast at Boma and dinner at Jiko.
