If I can't get ADR's for BOG, will they let us tour the restaurant and at least order the "gray stuff" to go?:worship:

In our experience, they are very strict about letting people in. I also agree with @roomthreeseventeen on the grey stuff. I guess it's all a matter of personal preference and I am happy that I got to try it for myself, but I wasn't a fan.

There is no good way to restrict someone who comes into the restaurant from ordering during QS times, and during TS times it's just intrusive.

I haven't been to BOG in a few years, but last time I was there, you could not just walk in. You needed a QS or TS ADR.

I love the gray stuff, but if you want to try it do this: grind oreos in a coffee grinder, mix with cool whip, voila! The gray stuff. Actually...this may taste better!

No they won't and I tried it! My kids couldn't understand why we couldn't just go in and look around like any other restaurant so I bravely went to the CM at the front and said I just wanted to look inside not eat and she was like "no". :sad2:

I admit I was a little embarrassed and the CM was kinda harsh but at the time I did not have an understanding of how it operated and I totally understand why they can't just let people wander in because then they would just order and sit down. But it seemed so reasonable at the time to ask to just "look around" which is something I've done at many places before deciding to eat there!

We have an ADR this time to I will get to satisfy my curiosity once and for all!

When we were there in November some guy tried to walk in with his family without a reservation to just look around. They basically have a BOG bouncer of sorts who makes sure anyone walking up has an ADR and otherwise asks them to leave (nicely, of course... not a real bouncer in the nightclub sense).

I bet if we had waited outside a bit longer we would have seen several others try to do it. I think folks just don't know.

But imagine if they just let anyone from the park in to look around without an ADR. It would be chaotic at best.

It is worth going in to see the restaurant - it's amazing and straight out of the movie. But agree with others that you can skip the gray stuff - just buy some Oreos and puree them. That's basically it.

I think the point the PP was making is that you can't get passed the check-in without an ADR.
Right. I guess my point was that the reason that is so is because there is no means by which to ensure someone who goes in "for a perk" just peeks, and doesn't go on up to a kiosk or try to sit down.

I was unable to get a lunch ADR for my party of 2, but was able to make individual lunch reservations for two parties of 1 five minutes apart. You could try this method.

- No and No.

- Keep trying. Try at 60 days when folks make FP+ and drop ADRs now that they know what park they will be in, try at 45 days when folks have to cancel a package and will cancel their dining to not pay CC guarantee, check the week before, and every day up until - folks cancel all the time. Or as PP noted, try for smaller numbers during lunch when you get to pick your own table. I have cancelled about 5 dinners week of, last month cancelled lunch a couple days before.

- Grey stuff - ever try that chocolate cool whip they sold a few years - that. Not really missing anything. But if you must prefer lunch cupcake over dinner grey stuff on rock hard cookie.

Yup! That's the recipe I'm sure! .... It's not even gray. It's pale brown.

Lunch ADRs open up during the week of as plans change and people get fatigued. Keep looking. At 45 days there are payments due and people cancel as well. So do not give up. Check frequently!!

Thank goodness they don't allow people to simply "tour" the restaurant. It's intrusive and aggravating enough trying to eat with all the people who actually do have a reservation meandering around and taking pictures of everything. I can't imagine what a zoo it would be if they allowed just anyone to come in and wander around.

I've been checking regularly for a BOG ADR for dinner over the last few weeks with no success . Last night, I made my FP+ selections at our 60 day mark (staying on-site) for our trip the end of April. This afternoon, I happened to check again on the app for a BOG dinner ADR and I finally nabbed one for four people on a Sunday at 5pm. I had to take a double-take to make sure the date and time was correct lol. We were actually hoping to get an ADR anytime between 4-6 pm so we are all set. Your tip about checking at the 60 day mark was so helpful and makes a lot of sense why they become available. So keep checking everyone and good luck! :shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

From my personal experience, you can actually stand in line to see if they have any cancelled reservations and to see if they'll take your party. I've done it twice now for dinner (on the day of) and my mother and I were able to get a reservation. HOWEVER, this is not a guarantee, and you do have to wait and stand in a line to see if they do have any room. I got there about 3:00pm and stood in line until about 4:30, and they told me I could get in. It depends on how badly you want it ha.

I do completely understand what you're saying.
