Generally, yes. A good TA will already know to check for discount and PIN codes.

That is why I prefer to do it myself.

I believe you can call Disney yourself to see if you have a PIN - If you do, however, only the TA can call to make any modifications to your reservation.

That is why I prefer to do it myself.

We haven't had to call our TA to change our ADR

Our TA is only handling half our ADRs for Dec trip - basically the large group ones for 11. The smaller groups are handling themselves because I already anticipate them changing around tons and don't want to bother the TA with having to listen to us go back and forth over and over.

All you have to do is go into MDE and swap stuff around... no prob!

This is correct. You can call any time to inquire about a pin, but your TA is the one that has to call and have it applied (pending availability) should you have one. Since your TA "owns" your reservation until you check in, Disney will not discuss anything about the reservation with you, but you can call and check for pins attached to your name.
