At the very least I would think you could cancel the first reservation and put whatever you had paid towards the new one with the discount code.

Yes but only if the discount applies to the resort you booked.

AND IF the resort has rooms available under the discount code for your dates.

AND IF you qualify for the discount (e.g.. AP holder, FL resident, Disney Visa cardmember, personal PIN invitation, etc.)

Yes - if there are discounted rooms available at the resort you booked, you will be able to apply the discount. I've done this twice.

ETA... keep in mind that Thanksgiving week is a very busy week and there may not be a discount. It's not like they have to entice people to visit during that week.

I agree with the other posters! Also, watch for discounts like a hawk because you are going during a holiday week and if discounts are released they may be limited so you need to call to add it to your trip as soon as it comes out. We do this with just about every Disney vacation. We book our room or package as soon as we decided on our dates, then I watch for discounts constantly (mousesavers.com is great when it comes to finding out discounts and so are the people here on DisBoards. Believe me the people here on DisBoards have given me some excellent advice and have helped me save quite a bit of money.). When I see a discount that applies to us I call Disney and they apply it to our reservation, no problem. Good Luck!
