If had to skip a park, would it be AK or MGM?

We do not have time to go to all the parks and of course we must go to MK. I am dying to see Epcot as I have never been there before. We will only have time for one more park, so between AK and MGM, which would you skip and which would you go to?

We are a family of four with two kids, ages 6 and 4.

Thanks!

I would say skip MGM. Not that much stuff to do there. I believe that most of the kids like AK better. If you have a hopper type of pass you can jump over to the Disney Studios after AK and see the new motors show and Fantasmic in the evening.

Personally, I would skip AK. It just didn't appeal to me as much as MGM. Half of it is zoo and safari, and I can go to the zoo at home.

I really like AK but given your choice I would head to MGM.
While no zoos compare to AK, they are still in the same family.
MGM stands alone as a Disney Park.

There are more memorable things to do at MGM.
Don't miss lights motors action, Rock & Roller Coaster, and Tower of terror.
The kids would probably like Fantasmic.

If you have park hopper, you could hit some of he highlights at AK early then head on over to MGM. That'd be ideal for your situation.

I think it depends on when you go. AK seems to add an additional 10 degrees on whatever the temperature is. If you aren't going in the dead of summer, I'd probably do AK. But if you are going in July or August, I'd much rather be in MGM.

I would skip AK and we have in the past. The only things we like there are the Lion King Show, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Primevil Whirl.

I like the shows at MGM like Ariel and Belle show. When my girls were younger, Playhouse Disney show. We LOVE Fantasmic show at the end of the day. We also LOVE ToT and RnR rides. We enjoy the Great Movie Ride and my girls LOVE "Honey I shrunk the Kids" playground and the Muppet 3-D movie. We also enjoy the parade very much. Did not like the AK parade.

AK can be done in half a day; maybe you can do that in the AM and MGM (with Fantasmic in the PM)??

Good luck deciding. You will get lots of differing answers on this.

Skip AK. Last time we went we never made it to AK. It's nice but MGM is more Disney.

If it were me and I had to skip a park, I would skip AK. BUT, for you with young children, I would say skip MGM. I think AK has more things you're kids will be able to enjoy.

:)

I would skip MGM. It used to be my second favorite park, but it has been replaced by AK. I love Kilimanjaro Safaris and that ride alone is better than anything MGM has to offer. There are so many little things to see at AK, along with the big things. MGM doesn't have that, or at least, not as much as AK. Then again, it's just my personal opinion. I just think AK has more to offer throughout the park.

I would skip AK if I had to. MGM has lots of things for kids your kids ages. Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Muppet Show, Playhouse Disney, Great Movie Ride. Plus kids love Sci-Fi for lunch.

When in doubt, we skip AK. Last trip we didn't go at all and didn't really miss it.

Are your kids boys or girls? If I had two boys I'd go to AK, if I had two girls I'd go to MGM. MGM has two girly shows, Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid, in addition to shows for boys and girls like the Muppet Movie 3-D, Great Movie Ride, Playhouse Disney, ect....so I think MGM will appeal a bit more to girls and I think AK would appeal more to boys.

Last trip we skipped MGM because of a severe rainstorm on our MGM night. We did go to AK, mostly because we had a PS for Donald's Breakfast and because I HAVE to see Festival of the Lion King. I was sad to miss MGM, but I wouldn't have traded and missed AK.

I waited years to finally go to AK. Last trip I went, and left early. But we went to MGM 3 times that trip, gotta love Muppets, RNRC, and just the atmosphere is great!

How many days are you doing Disney?
If you are only going to Disney parks for 3 days, I would do MK for 2 days and Epcot the other day. With small children like that MK is very hard to do in just one day.

I would have to skip MGM. I love AK so it is an easy choice for me. My 6 year old loves to walk aroung MGM but does not like any of the rides, but he love 's to go on the Safari at AK as do I and DH.

That's a toughie there. I couldn't imagine skipping any park. I just couldn't do it. Sorry if I wasn't any help...:confused3

Personally unless your children are more of the dare devil type rather than afraid of the typical kid stuff I'd skip MGM. For my almost 6 yo the only things she'd do there would be Playhouse Disney and Little Mermaid. On the flip side she could spend days at AK just watching the animals. AK is so much more than the average zoo.

I would skip AK...there just isnt as much there yet because it is a fairly new park.
