Just curious if people will still go in Sept if free dining is not offered. I don't think my family would. If I have to pay for dining, I would rather go in Jan when it is cooler. I am still hopeful for free dining though!

(oops on the title, meant to say dining, not dining!)

Mostly likely yes. The only difference would be if I am staying at Movies or CB.

We dont take vacation from April through August cause of work issues with DH so I pick the first month after that.

Absolutely! Either September or October, depending on when I have a long weekend. Our school calendar (I'm a teacher) won't be available until the spring. While free dining would be great, we don't plan our trips to WDW around discounts. We choose a resort that we can afford without the discount. If we get a discount or some kind of offer, then we either save money or upgrade.

We would go a little later.. in October... best temps, MNSSHP & W&FF....
that also allows a greater time distance between our local vacation in July and our next.. as to break it up a bit more..
but as long as we get free dining we will go in Sept...

We would wait and go in December if Free Dinning isn't offered. We have went last year in September ONLY because of free dinning!

I would never go to WDW during the middle of hurricane season unless someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I like to stick to the end of October (as far from hurricane season as I can). However, when the offer is too good, I do sometime opt for a long weekend in September to take advantage of the promotion.

I keep hearing about hurricane season in Sept and we have been twice in Sept once in 2005 & 2006 and I never even saw a cloud or a rain drop!!!! It that just rare?

My husband I were at Disney during "Hurricane Ernesto" (August) and we went to MK!:lmao: The park was eerily empty. We ran around in our Ponchos getting on rides like Splash Mountain and Thunder mountain and being allowed to stay on until we wanted to get off...(My husband could only stand four rounds of the music on Splash Mountain until he was screaming to get off!:lmao: )It was the BEST day we had! Sure our feet were soaked, but it was warm. We had a great time! Granted...Ernesto was more of a drizzle storm than anything else...

Last year we went in August as well...same time...There was one day when we had some really heavy rain.

Our luck has held so far! We're hoping this year will be beautiful weather as well!!! We love August! Low crowds is worth a lot more to me than milder weather! Disney in December is not worth the holiday prices IMO, b/c the crowds are SO insane that it's hard to enjoy the parks.

Don't get me wrong...I'd go to disney any time of the year...just to be there!

We went in Sept, 2006, and it was clear and wonderful. We went the same week last year and it rained a lot. It is true if you stay in the parks, the crowds thin out and you can just ride, ride, ride! We enjoyed it...plus the cloud cover offered some relief from the sun!:cool1:

visiting with Tropically Depressed Ernesto at AK then dinner at Le Cellier. I don't care how hard it rained, I wasn't missing that! And when we got out, Ernesto had moved on and we had the best view EVER of Illuminations!

We wont be going back until they give us an incentive to do so. 2 years Disney free and counting....

No, we would not go in September without free dining. We're booked on the free dining bounceback offered last fall and that is, seriously, the only reason we are going then.

We went last two weeks of sept last yr and it sure did rain!
WE HAD A BLAST! our best trip ever.. no better way to clear a park than add a little rain to the mix!
ditto on the cloud cover.. it was also a but warmer than usual IMHO...

official hurricaine season is from June1st-NOv 1st every year.:goodvibes

Actually it runs to Nov 30th. And just because you go in late Oct, doesn't mean you're in the clear - but it helps your chances a little.

I know late October is still hurricane season, I just wouldn't want to be in Florida smack-dab in the middle of the season--September, but if the offer was good enough, I sometimes will take the chance. Sometimes we've been dry (9/2005, 8/2006 and 8/2007) and other times soaked (9/2004 and 9/2003). I've been lucky enough not to be there during a full blown hurricane, usually just the rains that come from one being close in the gulf. A few years ago I flew to WDW as hurricane Isabel was heading towards the Wash. DC area. I watched the news and they were warning folks who planned to fly within the next day to call the airlines to get out of town earlier. We called and got on a flight one day early, no problem and Disney got us a room one day early and the whole plan fell into place. As we flew South the pilot pointed out the storm on the horizon which was pretty cool. Of course our house survived and we tried not to think of bad things at home while on vacation. We were luckier than alot of our neighbors that year. I thought it was strange that it was September and we were flying South to get away from a hurricane.

No, I'd wait and go in Jan or Feb when it's cooler. Sept could only lure me with free dining, otherwise the heat is a BIG deterrent!

I want the heat this time.

We went middle of Oct in 2006 and morning lows were in the 40's. Set some records. Couldn't swim or go to the water parks. Day time highs were upper 60's and breezy.

That was a strange weather week, cause the Saturday we arrived it was 92.
