Just curious. We are adding a couple of nights on in Aug. and usually we stay at Shades of Green because it cheap and the rooms are huge. However... now that Magic Bands/FP+ have hit...it seems easier to just stay DISNEY for those nights. We have stayed at every property except Grand Floridian, French Quarter, yacht club and the values..except for one night...THANKSGIVING NIGHT in a family suite. We could not get an additional night anywhere pretty much because this was a late planned trip. IT was NOT MY CUP OF TEA staying at the All Star Music. I would love to hear your experiences with the Disney resorts other than DVC. THANKS :thumbsup2

We can get a military discount at all the resorts pending availability and the savings are pretty good.

Values 30%
Mods 35%
Deluxe 40%

Our first choice is the Boardwalk Inn. We have stayed there many times before we were DVC. We stayed on the villa side once and hated it compared to the Inn side. The Inn rooms are currently being redone. We got one of those rooms last week. Bathroom completely redone, brand new carpet, bed linens, drapes, etc. It was very nice although the mattress and pillows were awful.

Ditto to Meriweather. POR is our resort of choice when we are not staying at BWV or another DVC. We love seeing Bob Jackson there and we love the laid back feel to the resort. It also reminds us of home.

Non-DVC that we enjoy are the Swan/Dolphin, just for the convenience of being on the BW and in walking distance of Epcot and DHS. We also really enjoyed Coronado Springs Resort, and we'll be there again in November! It's a very, very pretty resort, great pool, and we really liked the Pepper Market.

We love Port Orleans French Quarter. We always stayed there before we purchased DVC and even occasionally still book a few nights there.

It's a small resort which we like. We enjoy the atmosphere and love the food court and the pool area. We also enjoy the entertainment at night in the bar area. There's also only 1 bus stop so you don't ride around the resort. You can walk to POR.

Personally, I find Port Orleans - French Quarter to be absolutely charming. From the lamp lit paths to the wrought iron railings, the resort truly evokes the charm and hospitality of the Crescent City. Although it is a moderate, the French Quarter feels small, like a quaint Louisiana parish.

I got a call this week from Hilton Vacation Club. They wanted to convince me to take a free trip staying at their resort on International Drive. Of course, there would be a timeshare presentation. I said no way, I don't stay offsite! Goodbye!

of the deluxes, we loved the BWI, GF, and YC.
of the mods, CSR is top (sooo serene, with beautiful scenery, best food court); 2nd would be CBR (such a happy, energetic place, with quiet nooks and crannies :) )

we actually didn't care for POFQ :confused3

different strokes, i guess

The POFQ has a great price with the military discount but I think we are leaning towards YC. We have not stayed there but love BC. It is decent deal with the discount too. Plus we love EC and being able to walk over in the evenings....is a plus. :thumbsup2

We absolutely love POR.

And we would stay again at Pop (we stayed in a preferred room), All Star Sports (can't remember if it was standard or preferred), and All Star Music (stayed in the family suite) quite happily.

I would not stay at AKL again. Maybe if it were free, but if there were another choice we'd take the other choice. Just not fans of our two stays there! Sanaa and the easily-viewable-from-the-free-lobby animals are the draws for us...no need to stay there for them. :)

DS and I were just discussing that we would both like to go back and stay at POR again some time, preferably in the Royal Rooms for DD. DH on the other hand has become such a DVC resort snob we can't talk him out of VGF to save our lives.

However in your case it sounds like YC is the perfect match for your family so I say go for YC!

We've stayed CSR, CBR, POR and POFQ. I think our favorite is POR. But all the others were good, too.

Before DVC, we stayed at:
Caribbean Beach shortly after it opened; we liked it at the time; it was our first time staying on property; Our girls were small at the time; I don't know that we'd stay there again though.
POFQ shortly after it opened as well; we liked it, but we made good use of the facilities at POR during our stay. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are rooms.
Poly which I loved, but the current construction might not be pleasant.
GF which I also loved; there are wonderful restaurants and shops right there, and it's so close to the MK. and
YC LOVED it. Easy walk to the Boardwalk area and EPCOT. Rooms are nice. There's just an upscale feel to the place. Had a few issues w/ busses though.

Good luck!

Well we could NOT get a military discounted room at Yacht or Beach Club.:sad2: They were gone. I was able to get the POFQ with no problems. We booked a river view. So that is that. LOL

I think that's a great result! When you stay there, you actually get two resorts - two feature pools, two food courts, (two pool bars :) ). And an easy boat ride to DTD! It's a beautiful resort. We also had a river view the time we stayed at POFQ. Have a great time!

Before DVC:
DL now PORS loved the grounds and shaded pool area.
CBR found out we did not care for this resort too much.
CSR loved the grounds and resturants.
Swan CL great food and drinks in the CL lounge.
Since buying DVC while at DL all our onsite stays have been gifted to us:
Multiple times at FWC, in a family member's camper.
Once at CR:
DW and I went with our DD, who was the lead person for her company at a convention at the CR. She had a room on the seventh floor, with view of MK, and concierge level access. We stayed in her room, had the same level of access as her, she gave us her gift card (which her company gave to all attendees) to use in the parks/shopping areas, was sent up dinner in the room from their nightly meals, and had four wonderful nights of viewing the nightly fireworks. Also, a CM who is a family member got us into the parks for free on two of the days.

I didn't realize it was all so close. :confused3
