I voted yes because I live too far away from Eurostar and we don't have budget airlines to France from our nearest airport. The flight costs really bump up the cost of our trips, so it would be great if we could do it by car!
it wouldnt make much difference to me in that i would still have to fly to england. but for me its a holiday not a day out so i wouldnt still go just twice a year
I voted no. I like the fact it is so close to Paris and although near enough for us to hop on a plane or Eurostar and be there in no time at all it is still in another country. Although I have enjoyed many holidays in this country there's always that extra bit of excitement if you're going abroad!
I live on the south coast of England so I tried to imagine if Disney was moved to somewhere in England, then Wales or Scotland but I still wouldn't visit more. I like to have a long leisurely holiday at Disney, not numerous day or overnight trips and if I went too often I worry it would lose its magic for me. Another thing, if it was in Scotland it would probably cost more for me to travel there than it would to France!
This isn't to say that I wouldn't like Disney to be in England, I just answered the thread that I wouldn't visit more often!
Im unsure if I would or not to be honest. I think it would depend where it was.
If it was close enough for day trips I would possibly visit more for that reason but then Id be unlikely to go and stay there and so would miss out on a lot of what Disney is about. Its not just the parks and rides but the time in the hotels, the meals etc etc
If it was further away (eg down South) I would probably visit just the same as now.
What would have probably happened though is that I would have visited earlier.
We used to love WDW and also love France but just couldnt imagine how Disney could fit into France - to us America was for doing Disney, France was for relaxing camping trips- so we avoided visiting for several years. Until we decided one year to combine it with a holiday in France (half expecting to be proved right and not to like it - ) but you only need to look at my signature to see how addicted we became
I think part of the excitement about Disney in general is that it's exotic. It's a magical other country for us. Travelling to WDW in Florida is so exciting because it's alien to us. Paris also has that romantic, different feel to us brits.
If it was in England, would that magic still be there?
I live in Italy, but I find easier traveling to the UK rather than to France. Just a personal preference. ^^ Anyhow, Italy was a candidate for Disneyland as well, if I don't make a mistake the region Romagna was proposed, for it had great reception capacities, as it is already a touristic place. Incidentally, I am from a very close city... eh eh... would be nice step out of home and get the park...
I'd just have the fear that if it was in the UK it would be full of union jack vest wearing, tattooed, beer swilling people which would take away a bit of that Disney magic for me
At one point in the planning stages i had heard that Thurrock in Essex was a possible destination for Euro Disney and if they had gone ahead i would visit more as it would only be a 30min drive and lots cheaper as i wouldn't have to stay onsite. Having said that i don't think i would enjoy it as much because i wouldn't be staying on site and getting the whole magical experience.
