I already bought SW non-refundable tickets for April. If a DING comes up with cheaper prices, can I get them and get the credit? I see from other posts that someone DING makes it complicated but I don't know why. please help! Thanks

yes, we do this all the time. What Southwest does with non-refundable tickets is put the difference in an account to be used for a future flight. The money is good up to a year from the date of the first purchase. To take advantage of a Ding, first cancel the original flight, noting down the confirmation number of the credit. Use the credit to pay for the ding. The remaining money stays in the credit.

Thanks for the quick response! I am nervous though about cancelling the flight, then trying too book the DING. If it is sold out quickly, I might be completely out of luck, right? Is there any other way to do it? If you call Southwest, can they reserve the DING price before cancelling the original reservation?

I just had so much trouble getting a SW flight to begin with (sping break time!) and I am petrified of losing what I did manage to get!
