First let me introduce myself, Kim 40 yo....successfully stayed away from pin collecting (so I thought) until my most recent trip last week. I took my oldest two kids to WDW and gave them each $100 to spend. They both decided to go the pin route. Pretty soon they both had myself and my Mom into collecting pins. The kids traded, my mom and I collected
Fast forward to now, at home. I used to work for The Disney Store back when you were actually a Disney Cast Member and I knew I had some pins. So I dug them out tonight to put them on my lanyard. I had many more then I thought! Plus some pleasant surprises! I had the customary Cast Member pins....1 year service, 5 year service, Dalmation 101 pins (where our store got shopped and we got a perfect score), my training pin, guest courtesy pin (with Tigger) and a teamwork pin (with Mickey). I also have a Company D pin with Mickey and a Disney Team pin that says Cast Exclusive on the back. All very cool! Some others I didn't know I had...25 anniversary, 2000 pin and a Test Track that has 2000 on the back. But two I'm realy excited about is a Magic Kingdom pin that I'm sure came from my very first visit in 1983!! Oh boy, that sure has special meaning for me! Then I have one that I can remember buying right when the pin trading was starting and my job with The Disney Store was ending. I was going through a divorce and knew I couldn't afford to get into pin trading but found one pin I had to have. It is a small square picture of Walt as if he is in a picture frame and Mickey is on the right hand corner with his head in his hands looking up at Walt. On the back it says "Disney Fotoball". Anyone know what that means? It also says Pin #101 of 101 which I think is kind of cool. You know because of the whole 101 have meaning with Disney. On this most recent trip I loved the pins with Walt and Mickey and it was mostly what I bought, now I have this one too!
I just am excited because this will make my lanyard just a little different instead of the same pins I saw everywhere. I know so little about pin collecting but love the one I just found!!
ETA I just figured out the #101 of 101. The Disney Store had a series of 101 pins and this was pin #101, duh on my part. It's still a cool pin.
