I didn't post this on the community board because it is a lot bigger board and I don't feel like I know those people like I do my scrapping DIS friends.

My in-laws who were living in Gulfport during Katrina are in the paper today - they are doing a story each day this week (started on Sunday) on people who ended up here after the storm.

Here is the link if you are interested in seeing it.

Here is a photo galery.

Thank you for sharing that. I remember how worried you were last year and I'm so glad that your inlaws made it out safely. I can't even imagine losing everything like they did but it sounds like they have a wonderful attitude and spirit. Your husband was a remarkable guy to drive down there. Are your inlaws happy living in Alabama now?

I can't imagine, even with the photos, what it must have felt like to watch your life swirl around you in the water.
I am glad to hear that they are okay now.
Is the rest of the family donating duplicates of photos to make new albums?

Wow, thanks for sharing, I can't believe it's been a year. The picture of the tv about did my DH in! :teeth:  Seriously, we are about to get TS Ernesto tonight and looking back at those pictures is like seeing a news report before flying...it reminds you of how dangerous storms can be.

Thanks for sharing this with us. What a story and I'm so glad for the happy ending. The pictures were amazing.

My sister in law is gathering photos and creating an album for them for christmas. We are really lucky that a few years ago she make each of her sons (3 of them) a photo album with photos going from their birth to when they left for college so those can be copied to put in the new album. Plus photos of family get togethers that several of us have that can be included or added later.

She did tell us over this past weekend that the thing she misses most is her photo albums.
