Hi this is my first post. I have found conflictiing answers for my question, hoping someone could help. :confused3
We will be staying at WL 7/2007. If we go to a park in the morning and leave during the heat of the day, and the admission gates close while we are gone due to heavy crowds, will we be admitted back into the park when we return???
Appreciate any help. Thanks.

:welcome: to the DISboards!

Yes, if a park is "closed" due to high crowds (doesn't happen very often, BTW), if you leave, you will not be re-admitted... unless and until enough park guests exit later in the day and the CMs re-open that park to further guests.

Yup, that's a good possibility. Note that there are a variety of "levels" of closure. Some of the earliest levels of closure do allow folks who were previously in a park re-enter that park (while turning away non-Disney resort guests who have not yet entered a park that day), but beyond a certain level, even those trying to re-enter are turned away.

1) On ultra-busy days, do not leave the park.
2) You may be denied re-entry at a later time.
3) You are guaranteed an entrance to "a" park.
4) But, it might not be the park you want.

NOTE: On big holidays (like New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving, etc), MK can reach capacity. If it reaches Stage-4, then no one is admitted until someone leaves and you take their place.

During July, probably July 4 is the only day you MIGHT have to worry about this. As the above posters have stated, Disney goes through several levels of closure before parks are closed to everyone.

I could be very wrong about this, but I thought I read that resort guest were never turned away from a park. That also included when the park reached capacity. Check with the concierge desk at the Wilderness Lodge, when you get there. They will know the policy for sure. As disneyag stated, the 4th of July will probably be the only day that it could reach capacity.

What if your a Contemporary guest & on July 4th you decide to walk to the Magic Kingdom, however you are told that the park is completly full & have to wait until enough guests leave, so you can get in. Can that really happen & if so are you allowed to wait by the gates & not go back to the Contemporary & risk not getting in later on?

As Scupper indicated, Disney resort guests are guaranteed entry into a park, not necessarily the park of their choice. If you don't have park hoppers, and the park you were in earlier in the day is closed even to Disney resort guests, then you'll have to pay the $40 park hopping fee to assert your "guaranteed entry into a park" privileges.

You can always wait "by the gates" if you like. No one will stop you.

For anyone who may know the answer, when a park is full to capacity or as TheRustyScupper said when they are at a Stage-4. How many guests need to leave so that other guests can get inside?

I have never witnessed a park closure due to capacity but I believe it is not one person out, one person in but rather a hundred of so people out and then a hundred or so people waiting outside can come in.

If you are a day guest you would probably be better of not waiting at the turnstiles trying to get back in if they are at "level 4". The level will drop one notch at a time and might go back up to 4 and meanwhile the level has to come all the way down to 1 before you can re-enter or zero (no restrictions) before you can enter for the first time.

Park managers keep readjusting admission based on actual movement within the park, not solely on gate count. It should be noted that capacity is NOT controlled on a "one person leaves and one person is allowed to enter" basis. Once the park reaches any stage, it will stay in that phase until park management deems it safe to lower it. Then and only then will additional people be allowed into the park.

I had posted a thread asking this exact same question before our July trip.... And all my answer's were the same...
We got there on July 5th and were only there until July 8th (a mini Anniversary vacation)... I found the crowds to be reasonable.... I had heard that the 4th is packed and that MK usually ends up shutting the gates... I asked a Cast member on the the day we got there, how busy was it yesterday on the 4th.. He said they closed their gates at 10:30am but re-opened them around 11:30am and he said they stayed open from then on.... I will tell you this.... My family and myself went to WDW in Oct of '05, and some of the waits were longer than in July!!!! We were shocked!!!!

There is a way to look at all my threads that I have started and you can find that one about the parks being filled to capacity and can you be denied access....

Go have fun and don't worry about it!!! :cool1:
