I'm not sure if this is the right forum.. if it's not please feel free to move it :sunny:

Are resort IDs (the ones that work for your room key, DDP, and park admissions) accepted as a form of ID as well ? By that I mean, do they have some sort of code or sign on them that confirms that the person using it is an adult ?

Here's the thing, I dont drink alcohol myself but my mother does, and since she tires more easily than me she usually sends me over to get her drinks. I'm 28 but I have never, EVER been able to get a drink (or buy cigarettes!) in the US without ID and I'm really not loving the idea of carrying my passport around in the parks. I lost it once on a trip to NY and thought they were never going to let me take that plane back home - and it was before 9/11!

Unfortunatley for the purchase of Alcohol they are not accepted. You have to present a government issued photo ID (some exceptions are made to the photo, but that is based on the location you are from and whether or not that location puts photos on their ID's... obviously your passport would have one, but some states in the US do not have photos on the drivers license so I just wanted to clarify that). That will be anywhere you go, not just Disney.

Thanks for the info ! I expected it would not be so easy :) Do you know if they accept foreign ID cards - not passports but ID cards. They're useless for traveling but maybe for that.. or when they require an ID to use a credit card or traveller's check.

Not sure if this would work but can you make a copy of your passport before you leave and present that? Also, if your mother is within sight range, the server usually will ask that she wave or something to prove she's the one getting the drink. That happens quite often with Disney's one drink per person rule. Many times a wife will send the husband to get two drinks while she shops or sits down. If the CM can she her and acknowledge her, the husband can get two drinks. If she's off somewhere else and the CM can't see her, the husband gets only one drink.

1) Sorry, as mentioned, the resort key is not an age ID.
2) You need a government issued ID for that purpose.
3) Non-government ID's are not usually accepted for proof of age.

I guess it depends on what they mean by "government". My government issues national identity cards but I've never used them in the US. Don't know if they're any good there. How do other foreign visitors do?

DM"ll have to drink soda or get up & get her drinks herself. Though she did get carded in Ft Lauderdale last year & it made her day!!! :rotfl:

disnut8, thanks for the info I didnt know about the 1-drink policy.
