Ok so I have a teacher at school who caught me chewing gum and gave me a lunch ISS. So then I kindly try to approach him and tell him that teachers are not alloud to give out lunch detintions for chewing gum only the principle is. Which is the truth as all the teachers can do is put you on the warning list which they give to the principle once a month. If you get caught chewing gum 3 time then they will give you a lunch detention. Then the teacher says i'm lying and that they would never make a rule like that and i was like they made that at the starting of the year and all the teachers are supposed to know about this. He then goes off saying how he doesnt like this rule so for that reason he doesnt have to follow it. So by then I was so mad that he wasnt following the rules so then I say well I'll go and tell them that it was for chewing gum and I will be out of there in 10 seconds and I will not have a lunch detintion. Then he threatens to give me another one for doing that since he doesnt like the rule. So I was like whatever you do that you can have a meeting with the vice principal where you learn lots of rules that you havent been following all year. So this morning he comes up and tells me that he was told by another teacher that he wasnt aloud to do that so he took me off the Lunch ISS list which I was happy about but then he tells me that he gave me not 1 but 2 warning for chewing gum and ones from 7th grade since I never got that warning. Then I was like um... that was last year not this year and he goes be happy for getting off of it light and so I was like whatever but now I have to go down to the Principals office sometime in the next month to sign a piece of paper saying that I have 2 warnings and I know the school rules thanks to him giving me 2 warning and one is from last year... Ok I guess its kinda of stupid and all but this teacher plays stupid games like this daily like giving people lunch ISS for saying one word in his class and it just gets on my nerves and if you are like 10 seconds late to his class you have to go back and get a note sometimes he will send 15 people coming from PE back actually last time I had to get a note from PE to come to his class the pe teacher got all mad at Horsak since she felt like we were 10 seconds late big deal and she told to tell him that hes becoming a thorn in her side and then my best friend said something like hes a flippin idiot and she was like hes worse that. So yeah like all the teachers hate him and all and I'm just so annoyed with him dos anyone else have any teachers like this??

I'm sorry, it sounds like you are twisting what the teacher said. I've never met a teacher in all my 16 years of life who would gripe that he didn't like a rule so wouldn't follow it.

Anyways, you were very disrespectful. You were breaking a rule, and the teacher was punishing you. Simple.

I have to agree in part with the aforementioned comments. You were breaking a school rule. He may have taken the punishment a bit far, but you can't rely on "oh, I have this many more warnings before I get in trouble", you have to suck it up and follow the rules the first time.

I know that at my school, they can "write up" a teacher for allowing a student to break the rules (ie: eating in class, wearing a hat) and that can keep the teachers from getting a raise and as my school is underfunded, that raise can mean the difference in a mortgage payment and a repossesion. Teachers have been really cracking down this year because of it.

As for the 10 seconds late thing, I used to have a teacher who stood at his door with his watch and he would mark you tardy if you were even 1 second late by his watch. You could be right outside the door and he'd see you and he'd mark you tardy because you weren't in his classroom.

Thankfully, I have the coolest, most laid-back teachers in school this year.

That's ridiculous. In my school, some teachers give us gum... I don't think it was the teachers fault......

You shouldn't have been chewing gum in the first place.
And
Don't argue with those in authority of you, in the whole scheme of life, does it really matter that you get a lunch iss?

See, I never chew gum at school, but I'm a really heavy gum chewer other places. That's just a wierd situation.

I have one of those teachers. Nobody likes him at all. He just annoys us all. He also smokes way too much so the whole class smells like cigarette smoke.

YOU CAN'T HAVE GUM?!?!?!?! wooooowww thats gay...we can have it as long as it doesnt get on the floor which is understandable

i agree with the later comments because a lot of people are sticking gum where they shouldnt, and one of my friends just got a pair of new shoes ruined because someone spit out their gum, and it got all over shoes.

You shouldn't have been chewing gum in the first place.

If chewing gum is against school rules, why did you do it? And since you were caught by a teacher, then you get caught.
An ISS isn't the worst thing that can happen to you.
Take it an move on with your life.
Chewing gum isn't even allowed in school. ?!?!

Yeah, I have a lot of annoying, overbearing teachers.

But that doesn't mean that I yell at them, and challenge their authority and knowledge of the rules that they make a living off of.

I actually cringed when I read your post.
That was so incredibly rude.
Bottom line, that teacher is older than you, AND an authority figure.

You need to learn some respect.

::yes:: I agree with everyone, you could have been more respectful to your teacher. You should have been following the rules...

Well, we can chew gum at my school.
And I think it's weird that you can't.

But if the teacher busted you for not following the rules, then you have to live with that.
And ISS isn't the worse thing that could happen.
I do agree with everyone else though.
He is the authority and even if you thought what he did was stupid, disrespecting him, like you did, will just make things worse.
And you should always respect teachers.

I agree with your perspective, but you really do have to be respectful. I said before that I thought the teacher was on a power trip, which I believe he has no right to do. The right approach would either be showing the teacher the rule in print, or taking it to an administrator.

Teachers can be annoying, yeah. But you've really got to take it in stride. Some people in life are going to be harsher than others, but it doesn't give you the right to disrespect them.

Yep, it's like a lot of people said, R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
I don't chew gum at school because it's a rule, but off school, I'm a gum junkie!
And I honestly dobut that a teacher would do that because he "didn't like that rule"
:woohoo:

Only fight the system when you have life experience & qualifications.

Sounds unfair, but generally people don't care about your opinions if you don't have qualifications and considered 'a minor'. Don't argue with your teachers, even if they are wrong. Just smile through gritted teeth and know your in the right. Sometimes we can say stuff with an "attitude" so he may have been thinking you were being rude to him.

Plus, just don't chew gum in school. Theres your lesson :) lol

I understand your motivations bt you need to treat teachers with respect. If you don't you will get in trouble. Simple as that
