Hello! A co-worker of mine is hoping to plan a SURPRISE trip to WDW for her adult children (and their spouses) and the grandchildren. She wants to call a "family meeting" and, without saying a word, simply present them each with a small wrapped "present"-her way of announcing the surprise. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THAT SMALL WRAPPED "PRESENT" COULD BE? She really wants to be imaginative! Thanks for any and all ideas! :goodvibes

A box with Sunscrean, Blister cream, and a personallized name badge.

Maybe also a printout of the resort map they are staying at.

our parents got a helium filled disney baloon with a string tied to it and on the string made a tag on the computer that said "MERRY CHRISTMAS!---YOURE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!" and on the bottom of the string there was a weight.

They put it in a box and so when we opened it it raised up revealing the msg.

The baloon we got said HAPPY BIRTHDAY! with the characters on it and my mom just wrote "JESUS" with permenate marker on it :earboy2: it made me giggle.

But there's an idea...not too small but still fun :cool1:

tiny jewelery box w/ disney keychain (can also go on backpack)and a folded note with dates of travel

Go to the tshirt thread, find a great design and put it on a tshirt for them!

something very simple. Maybe just a Mickey keychain or one of the things you put on your car antenna? Make them have to ask "What is this?"!
This will be so much fun!

How about a different gift for each family member? That way they have to put everything together after opening the gifts. For example, give one person a tiny airplane to represent the flight (or car if driving). Another person gets sunscreen...sunglasses...a countdown calendar...hidden mickey book...guidebook, etc. She could take it further by then presenting everyone (or just the grandkids) with guest of honor badges, Mickey ears, autograph books, etc.

Let us know how she pulls this off. Should be a fabulous surprise! :wizard:

great idea's my dd12 know's were going next year but I would love to surprise her on the dates somehow?? :confused3 she said she'd be mad if we tried to surprise her!!because she likes to plan for her trips!!!! :rotfl2:

Our friends just surprised their kids along with 3 other families with a Disney Cruise.

They used Scrabble tiles and had to combine them together to spell out "Your going on a Disney cruise." It was funny because they ended up spelling "Sidney" instead :)

Good Luck,
Deb

My aunt and uncle told their kids that if they did well at school... they would take them to dinner in Erie (its like the closest large city to us). And what they ended up doing is just driving straight to the airport and the kids were occupied watching their DVD players and stuff.. and they got to the airport and my aunt and uncle were like.. "We're Going to Disney World!"

Find a Disney puzzle (or make one) and give them each a few pieces. Make them put it together to figure it out.

We just surprised our kids this Christmas with our upcoming trip in February.
We had them "hunt for clues" written on cards around the house. eg, Clue #1 said "sit and play a merry tune while you figure this one out" - next to the piano was a disposable camera and the next clue written on a card. We had them finding travel games, road maps, sandals and beach towels and travel guides with the clues becoming more and more disney. The final item was a letter from Mickey telling them how happy his is they are finally coming for a visit. It was as much fun watching them hunting around as it was for them to go on their search. Of course it's all on video tape so we can edit it in to the beginning of our vacation video.

Years ago we surprised our 3 children and 2 of our nephews with a trip to WDW. What we did was wrap up their school books in Christmas wrap and put a large note on top of the teachers directions (for the schoolwork they would be missing while they were gone). The note said - If you complete all of the assignments in the next 2 weeks - on Jan 18th we will take you to.....
(Turn over paper)
WALT DISNEY WORLD!

Now they - were at first confused looking at their schoolbooks but we still have the video of them all opening them and it is priceless to see the awareness of what the "gift" really was come over their faces one by one until we had 5 children between the ages of 5 and 13 jumping up and down for joy in our living room.

Now - I am not sure what you would do for the adults!!

I just surprised my kids with a WDW trip this August (even though we had just gone with my parents in March, it was just too good of a deal for a Dis'er to pass up).
I told them that I was taking some time off and on Thursday we were going to get up early and go to Chicago (all factual info, but they were thinking like zoo, museum, Sears Tower...etc). We they woke up that morning I said I had a game for them to play. I had printed up cartoon pics on the computer to give clues to spell out "How Would You Like to go to the Happiest Place on Earth...TODAY!"
(example - the phrase "question word that rhymes with..." and a picture of a cow = how)
Even though it was like 3:30 am when they were doing this, they figured it out and the "TODAY" one was just the word with a Mickey sticker. They were a bit confused still and asked me "when?" I pointed to the sign and said "TODAY! Cab will be here in an hour go get ready to go".
They were soooo shocked, my DD7 laid out flat on the floor as if she had fainted and my DS11 still can't figure out how I kept it a secret. I was so excited the night before I almost threw up LOL.

GREAT idea, Lizzybee!! Now may I ask what sort of great deal you got for August?! ::MickeyMo

Give each of them a post card from Disney World with a different poem on it giving the suprise away, sorry I can't write poems but think this would be creative if you could.

What about a scavanger hunt? Or do a treausre map and in the "treasure box" is all of the information with their names on it?

Well, I got the trip for myself and my two kids for a grand total of $1500. That included everything everything...round trip airfare for 3 from Chicago, 3 nights at ASMo, free dining with ressies at CRT lunch, 1900 Park Fare dinner, and 50s PTC, 4 day park hoppers, and a bit of a souvenir budget per day per kid. I thought it was a fabulous deal. Came at the perfect time, I get an extra paycheck in July. It was a wonderful trip and an amazing surprise for my kids. My mom did book the cab to and from Ohare, and it was a PT Cruiser-another dream for my kids...to ride in a PT Cruiser.
