We're taking a family trip to WDW in early December. I would like to put together small travel gift bags for my family. I'll give them out on Thanksgiving since we leave a week later. Here are my ideas so far:

Brother pirate:& Fiance:bride::

gum/mints
fav chapstick
knit gloves for chilly evenings & MVMCP (fiance)
sm Tinkerbell activity book & box crayons (family joke, fiance always colors w/ my DD)
tiny hand sanitizer (from bath & body)
magazine for brother

Dad :drinking1 :

peppermints (his fav & grandpa "always" has mints, usually "borrowed" from restaurants in excess :rolleyes1)
golf magazine
chapstick

Mom :surfweb::

lip gloss
knit gloves
mints
hand sani

I may through in a small snack like cheese crackers, pretzels or such. I also have my 2 kids to put something small together: small activity books, crayons, small candy & snack.

I would appreciate any & all suggestions!!

What a nice idea! Some additions to consider - Cleaned pennies with quarters in a container - for pressed penny machines - fun for anyone to collect! A Disney pin to get a collection started. Some kind of small pouch for holding tickets / fastpasses in the parks. Other small travel sized items for packing. Window clings or other small Christmas decorations for resort room. Have fun making these and have a great trip!

Thanks for the ideas. I'm planning on looking for the window clings @ the Dollar Tree just as soon as I see the Xmas stuff. The pennies & quarters are a good idea, as I think the kids will enjoy this.

Maybe add some punchos and /or moleskin. I hear that moleskin is a definate must have for all the walking that you'll be doing.

I would wait and give them the gift bags there, even if it means shipping a box. If you give it to them ahead of time, they have to transport it. It would be more thoughful to have it there waiting for them.

Also, it depends on where you are staying.

If it were me, I'd do a small bottle of champagne and maybe a scented "candle" or a Christmas tree ornament (or other religious holiday gift, whatever your religion is). Or maybe a disposable camera, or certificate for a Photo Pass. Or have an order from Garden Grocer with their favorite snacks or drinks.

Ditto with the kids - definitely DO NOT give it to them before you get there. There are so many neat things to get from the dollar store and the Disney Store - but they will love it more if they get it AT the vacation. It is even fun (we did this one year closer to Christmas) to wrap up very little gifts and let the kids open one a day.

One year, I also had a tiny tree with teeny tiny lights (same year I did the little gifts before Christmas, we were at the BWV for 10 nights before Christmas, got home Christmas eve, yikes) and set it up on top of the armoire in our villa (BWV). It was so festive.

Happy Planning!

No offense at all intended, as I've brought the stuff, but I've walked 20 miles some days at WDW, and never used moleskin. Just worn comfortable "Chacos" sandals and taken breaks. Also, I have brought the ponchos and wouldn't you know it, forgot them the one day I needed them! In December it won't rain much if at all. And if it does, they sell the cute Mickey umbrellas everywhere, but they aren't allowed to advertise them. You have to ask at the register - and they are only a couple of dollars more then the ponchos (which are like furnaces in the August heat and humidity). I almost laughed at my DH for getting one when the kids and I got umbrellas one day! He was so hot, and we were fine and still use the umbrella.

Oh they will love this! I did this for my little brother last year. I bought him a t-shirt, flip-flops, pressed penny tube, autograph book, toy story on dvd, and a bunch of stuff from the dollar store. I took everything in my suitcase and then brought a small gift bag with cellophane and then some of this stuff:

then I wrapped it all up when we got there and I went up to the room while my grandparents kept my brother occupied and put it on the bed with a "letter" from mickey and the gang--he absolutley loved it! Such a great idea!

Light up and glow items!!! I buy them in bulk online or at sale at the large discount stores (especially when they go on sale after Halloween). When I go with my family (grandparents, parents, big kids, little kids, etc), EVERYONE wants them! My favorite is the glow cubes that you can put in your drinks (get the multi-color that you can change or they change on their own) and they last a long time (a year or two!!) And we get light up hair barrettes & such for the girls and light up necklaces, glow sticks, glow necklaces, glow bracelets, etc... While the glow stuff is great and generally cheaper, the light up stuff lasts night after night and is more preferred by the adults. It's a great way to keep track of each other at the parks at night too!

Yes, glow sticks are great! We used to also attach them to the stroller at night.

And tee shirts are great too! You could get matching or just Disney ones for everyone!

I'm doing the same thing. My family is coming to Disney World with us in January. Included in the party is my mentally handicapped foster-brother. It's his first trip! I'm putting an extra special package together for him.

Everyone is getting:
Crocs
Custom made t-shirt with their favorite character
hand-held fans
glow sticks
pop-up map of Orlando

My foster-bros. is also getting:
Mad Lib book for the plane ride down
A hand held Guitar Hero game
extra glow sticks
mickey plush
lanyard with trading pin starter kit
extra "Celebrating First Visit" t-shirt
disposable camera

I'd love to get some more ideas!

The only thing I would suggest is skipping the tiny BBW hand sanitizers since they only have enough in the bottle for two uses. I would go to Target and in the travel section you can find the purell ones that come with a handle attached. You can attach them to belt loops or purse handles and they contain enough purell for multiple uses. I would rather be well prepared than catch germs.
