The night before any vacation is a happy time; however for kids, it is tough for them to go to sleep that night, and during that day, the hours seem to go by so slow. I think a Disney party is a great way to help the day go by faster. Get some Disney movies and watch them until everyone goes to sleep. popcorn:: Any more fun ideas?

Hi Jmoore215! I see you are new to the DIS! A big :welcome: to you! I don't know when you are going or how old your kids are but for us we plan on doing something to really tire them out. Maybe spend the afternoon at the park or go to the Zoo.. Just a thought! Have fun planning!

Good question- looking forward to more answers! Not sure what we'll do- maybe watch Disney vacation planning DVD and some Disney movies.

This is a good topic! I agree that no matter what you do, it will be tough! I loke the movies idea- that is probably what we will do. Movie night and camp out in the living room!

Me and dd spent our time checking our travelon from qvc to make sure we had our trip map and other supplies we put in. I had to work the day before so i was busy and then i got my hair done that night . We washed clothes:laundy: and dh and ds got the :car: car ready for travel. They made sure they had their dvds for the trip there.

I LOVE MY TRAVELON:thumbsup2

We will probably do what someone else suggested and take DS to the playground, to the zoo, or back to the creek (pronounced crick :hippie: ) to feed the ducks or maybe do all three to really tire him out :lmao:

We do the double check of the bags, the kids usually go through their car bags to make sure they have all the things they want for the car ride(batteries, cameras...)they do this two or three times. We clean make sure trash is out and no hidden veggies in fridge,we go to the store to pick up anything we need and we take our time,we go get gas DS12 loves to pump the gas:yay: the kids go on and on and on... about the trip and all the things they want to see and do. We go out for dinner again take our time because there are 52 hours in this day:rotfl2: (sure feels like it) and the great thing is the kids are so excited that cleaning seems fun, nothing can rain on their parade. We try to make the day as normal as possible.

My kids won't know until the morning of the trip, so I don't have to worry about entertaining them, or distracting them until bedtime. I am sure I will be crazy packing the night before, so hopefully I will be distracted too!!

I like the idea of watching Disney movies, but also really like the idea of watching the Planning videos (plural because my kids prefer the 2006 one over the 2007 one).

We also do the "check over" everything plan and my kids love to say "check" when we make sure stuff is in their bags.

We also spend some time as a family talking about what we really want to do in each park. We make lists of each person's 5 most important things to do on this trip and then we make sure we do all of those things for each person.

Sometimes, we get out the scrapbooks from previous trips and talk about the past trip OR the pictures will trigger "what do you want to do this time" or "should we do that again"? We're creatures of habit.

I also like to read them some Disney books before bedtime.

that would be tonite here:

we've run crazy last minute packing

each burned a personal cd

each selected our 6 dvds we are taking

wrapped it up, ready to go...............

I am not married or have kids but I am a 22 yr old college student so I might as well be in the category of the kids b/c i too cant sleep before a trip to WDW. This year it will be even worse b/c my college graduation is May 11 in the morning, we have to move out by 8 that night and I leave at 10:30am the next day for WDW talk about a quick turn-over!!!!! So needless to say, I will be stressed because I will have to organize all of my dorm stuff and pack so I doubt I will get much sleep but we will prolly watch the video or take it for the plane the next day, but I'm sure I will be making last minute trips to walmart and target to make sure I have everything!

we too enjoy the 2006 video over 2007!!!!

Great Ideas!:thumbsup2 We will have to make sure and do something strenuous with the kids so they sleep better the night before. I am worried about the 2 hr drive to the airport more than anything. I don't want them to "play" with all their backpack "toys" in the car and then be bored on the airplane. I am thinking I should pack a small separate bag of "goodies" for the car ride to keep them occupied. We hope to arrive to the airport with a good amount of time to spare so they can stretch their legs before the next 2 1/2 hours of confinement.

Keep those ideas coming!

You folks are all a lot more organized than we were.

We started packing the night before we left and DD, 3, spent the night helping us by taking things out of the suitcases to play with.

I don't think I'd recommend that approach.

That is what we are going to do...tire them out.

Because we live about 2 1/2 hours from the airport, we are staying at a hotel near the airport and having them shuttle us to the airport. I made SURE that the hotel had a pool. So we are going swimming until we cant swim no more!!

WE ARE FLYING OUT THIS THURSDAY AFTER NOON:banana:,BUT I HAVE TOLD MY DS THAT WE ARE FLYING OUT FRIDAY:laughing: ,AND IAM ACTUALY SENDING HIM TO SCHOOL AND THEN I WILL GO AND PICK HIM UP ON THE WAY TO THE AIR PORT.BUT WHEN HE WAS 12 IT WAS EVEN BETTER,HE DID NOT KNOW AT ALL:rolleyes1 ,AND THAT NIGHT I HAD HIM GO AS FAR AS PUT HIS PJ'S ON AND THEN WHEN HE WAS GETTING INTO BED I SAID"WHY ARE YOU GOING TO BED LETS GO TO WDW" IN STEAD:yay: AT FIRST THERE WAS DISBELIFE:confused: ,THEN THERE WAS SHOCK:scared1: AND THEN COMPLETE EXCITMENT:banana: I DO NOT THINK I WILL EVER BE ABLE TO SEE THAT LOOK AGAIN:sad1: BUT IT WAS SO GREAT:rotfl2: I WILL ALWAYS REMEBER THAT TIME

My Dh's parents used to do something for Christmas Eve that might apply. The night before Christmas Eve they would take them to the late show at the movies. Get them up the same time the next morning. They would sleep like babies Christmas Eve. Well maybe not like babies, my baby never slept at night. :rotfl: You know what I mean though.

Anyone thought of a classic Disney movie night, not the movies currently available, I'm talking about the old movies such as Peter Pan, chances are your kids will not have seen these movies yet, most auction sites have them. You can also play a Disney game like scene it the Disney edition, it is hours or fun.

Just booked my girls and I to get pedicures after school, the night before we leave then maybe dinner out!!!!:cool1:
