We will be arriving on Easter and I am trying to decide how the Easter Bunny will get the goodies to the girls... I have thought about using a smaller suitcase for things and then just hiding it or maybe mailing Easter Boxes instead of baskets... I was wondering in anyone had any other ideas or think which might work the best?:confused3

Last year we were in WDW for Easter I had the same dilemma. I ended up getting inexpensive Easter themed canvas tote bags from Oriental Trading Company and I filled them with Easter candy (nothing that would melt on the trip) and stuff for the trip that our kids could use - sunscreen, disney dollars hidden in plastic Easter eggs - plus some little things I had picked up at the Disney Store. I then "wrapped" the bags in large cellophane bags (like what pre-made Easter baskets are wrapped with) and I transported them in a duffle bag. On the way home I used the duffle to carry things we had purchased during our trip along with the kids things they bought which they put into the canvas tote bags. It was a little bit of work and it did involve bringing one more bag than usual but it was worth it. They do sell premade Easter baskets in the resort gift shops but they were definitely more $$$ than what I had done myself.

Also...If you will be in WDW on Easter morning check out special holiday events. Last year we attended the Catholic mass at Contemporary (they had a Protestant service also) and then went to the Easter candy scramble which included an appearance by Cinderella. Enjoy!

A word of advice - get a locking suitcase. DD went into the closet to get a bathing suit, and found out much more than she ever wanted to know about the Easter Bunny that year. We weren't at Disney, but were on vacation. Yikes!!!!!

I had the same thoughts LOL... But what I have decided to do (since we are leaving on Good Friday and will get there on Saturday - and I know how hard it would be to hide them from my girls) is that the girls and I called the Easter Bunny (well, we actually called a friend, but they thought it was the Easter Bunny) and told him that we would not be home on Easter and asked him what we could do- He told the girls that he would just make a quick trip to our house in the middle of the night before we leave and he would leave their baskets in the car for a surprise- Since we are driving from WV, we are making them Disney themed and long trip oriented.

The baskets are actually small backpacks that I got at Wal Mart for 6 dollars...

Both girls (5 and 2) will get a generic Magna Doodle type toy that I got at WalMart for 88 cents, a small handheld video game for 1 dollar each, a bottle of bubbles for stops at rest areas (and if worse comes to worse for my 2 year old... we will blow bubbles in the car too LOL), box of Cinderella crayons from the Dollar Tree (I am looking for good deal on Disney coloring book...), a cinderella jump rope for the camp ground (staying at Ft. Wilderness), We will probably put 1-2 packs of Disney princess fruit snacks in each, a couple of juice boxes, crackers, and a couple easter chocolates, as well as each girl getting a Disney princess pez dispenser and extra pez candy... and the big item in their baskets will be a Disney princess gameboy game for my 5 year old and a Minnie Mouse Barbie for the 2 year old....

So, I don't know if that would work in your house, but it seems to be working in mine so far.....

I thought about doing this too then I thought about maybe just sending cards from the Easter Bunny with Disney Dollars in it.

I am orignally from Parkersburg....:cool1:

This brings back memories for me of when mine were little. We did Christmas at Disney in California one year. It was a challenge, but well worth it. Took them years to figure out how Santa found them at the hotel and it is something they still talk about 8 years later. I had one seperate suitcase full of presents and goodies and it never occured to them to look.

I would definitely do a Disney Easter in your room, it will be something they will remember for ever. I like the canvas bag or little back pack idea. Then they can use it on their trip(I just got my 13 year old a great little girly Tinkerbell canvas pack on Ebay). You can buy little Disney goodies before you go; jewelry, pens, pads of paper, disney shirts and stick those in with a little regular Easter stuff and they will love it. If you take the little plastic eggs you can fill them up with candy that won't melt. Wouldn't it be cute to give a little Mickey or Minnie instead of an Easter Bunny? How fun.

This is the only Easter merchandise I've seen out yet at WDW, but it is pretty cute.

:thumbsup2 I love the disney dollars idea. The kids get to pick out what they want and they will def. have fun doing it.

We were there last year and I just packed some plastic eggs, rolled up Disney Dollars inside and then scattered them around while the kids were sleeping. There were a lot of Easter themed baskets and tons of candy in the resort store too - we were at AKL. Sometimes I think the threat of a discovery is worth the buying it there... Oh, and Mickey and Minnie came to the resort in their yellow Easter finery and gave out cute "carrots" of candy too! :flower: Have fun!

What I did was: took a small chocolate bunny-Dove,Hershey, a bag of foil covered eggs to be divided and plastic eggs with a note from the Easter Bunny inside that told each child that their Easter basket was at home waiting for them and to have a Happy Easter. I set the bunnies and eggs on the night stands.
They were happy the Easter Bunny knew where they were, it was just a bit that could be easily eaten over a day or two and I didn't have anything extra to try and bring home Alomost forgot bring a baggy of Easter grass to sit the buuny on. Throw out before packing. Also gave them something to look forward to at home after the trip. Just remember to have the baskets ready before leaving.

We took Easter totes from the Dollar store and plastic eggs. Bought Disney Dollars before we left and put them in some of the eggs and then picked up jellybeans at WDW and filled the rest. They did have cute character toys (similar to Beanie babies) dressed in Easter costumes for about $7. The kids loved it. Definitely go to one of the scrambles.
