ideas for the day in Nassau

We are taking our third cruise and know the ship and castaway are very accessible. Our one dilema is what to do our day in Nassau. Last time we were there no excursions were accessible and we looked around the town a little -- then returned to the ship. This was in '98 (the 4th sailing of the magic) so still hoping things have improved BUT haven't heard of anything yet.

By the way DH has a power chair so that makes some of the tours inaccessible .......... Any ideas would be appreciated!

Linda - we've always gone over to Atlantis on our own. The tour goes their via water taxi, but we've always taken land taxi's. I'm not sure how accessible Atlantis is but I would think it would be much more accessible than other parts of Nassau. I suggest you visit their website and contact them.

The grounds are beautiful, the casino is nice (if you are into that) and the DIG is great too.

Having said all that there are some that say that is the best day to enjoy the ship as it is a lot less crowded. Bridge tours are usually done on days in port so maybe that is something you and your husband would enjoy.

We may opt to stay on the ship BUT I admit I hate not having a choice re: this due to non - accessible transportation.

When we went on the 7 day Dan couldn't get off in St Martin due to the tenders and in St Thomas we were told no accessible transportation BUT we did find some on our own and had a wonderful tour.

It has always shocked me that Disney doesn't organize options for us.

You can probably get a taxi van that could fit the power chair (assuming transferring to a car seat is possible). Atlantis is great. If the pools would be of use to you, you can book a room at the Comfort Inn and get full use of them.
