Hi, I am new here but I am told DIS is where to get the best information! I want to plan a small surprise birthday party for my mom at Disneyland. Does anyone have special or fun ideas for private parties?

I heard that at Disney World you can have a tea party with Alice in Wonderland - anything like that at DL? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, they don't have anything like that here.....which is a shame!! The only "birthday" party thing they do is the Pat E. Cake party at the Plaza Inn. Here's a link to pics & my review:

In a nutshell.......don't waste your money for this!!

As for other ideas:
You could get a PS for one the many great restaurants, let Disney Dining know that you're celebrating your mom's birthday. You can pre-order a special cake for her to be brought out after your meal. Disney Dining's phone # is 714-781-3463. They can also give you ideas for other little extras you could suprirse her with.

If you like a quieter meal with great ambiance I'd suggest the Blue Bayou. This meal is spendy but worth it.
If you (and your mom) like the characters....go to one of the 5 character meals. All 5 do breakfast, but only Goofy's Kitchen & Ariel's Grotto offer lunch & dinner.
If you want fun, take her to the Rainforest Cafe (now you wouldn't be able to get the Disney Dining's help in this restaurant).
There are a ton of restaurants in DL, DCA & DTD that would make for a fun birthday meal.

Hope you figure out what fits your families likes & have a wonderful birthday party!!!!

Don't think D Land does this but it doesn't mean you can't.... Invite people to the park and meet up.

You could do a tour such a Walk in Walt's Footsteps or the VIP Tour which is a bit expensive. You can bring bags and tissue paper then stuff the bags with gifts and present them to her. As was stated earlier you could make for a dinner reservation and let them know that it is a birthday. Maybe get her something she loves like a corn dog.
