Taking my BF on his first trip to Disney since he was 13 (he is 32 now). I know he isn't looking forward to it, but is doing it for me. He is more the Las Vegas/cruise type of guy and can't understand why I get so excited about a place "for kids". Any tips on how I can possibly make him enjoy his trip?

Promise him lots of nookie.

Hit Jellyrolls or Atlantic Dance Hall for some adult-only fun.

Drink around the World {EPCOT}

Richard Petty Driving Experience

Enjoy nice restaurants at non-typical dining times in hopes of less children

I would suggest starting in Epcot. It's less insane than Magic Kingdom, so he won't be so overwhelmed. Maybe a half day and then jump to another park? He will get the idea that there is so much for adults to enjoy just as much as kids.

Do you have the Vacation Planning DVD? I love to watch those, maybe it would help get him a little more psyched.

I took one of my best friends to Epcot first on her very first trip and it is now her favorite park. She loves all of the parks, but Epcot is more her style. She's a Vegas/New Orleans/Beach girl, but she got bit by the Disney bug.

Hope you both have a wonderful time!

Not sure where you are staying, but the resorts have alot to do outside of the parks. Also, when are you going? Food and Wine Festival in Oct is a great time to go, with alot to do.

Epcot -walk around the world, enjoy some shows and food.
Hollywood Studios - shows
Downtown Disney
Boardwalk - Evening

I def. agree with starting at Epcot! If he is a drinking drink around the world. If he isn't just enjoy the countries!

Some things are not specifically Disney but they are still very cool. The fireworks, of course, are awesome. Lights Motors Action is always cool, Indiana Jones, Star Tours (who doesn't love Star Wars?), lots of things at Hollywood Studios are a lot of fun.

Going around the world at EPCOT is pretty non-Disney, and getting something to drink/eat at each place is always fun. Mission Space is another great example.

The point is, there are things for kids and things for everybody. When you get there, ask a Cast Member and explain your situation and they will be MORE than happy to provide their wisdom.

Disney does offer alot of things for the non theme park lover. Now, they aren't as good as you can get other places, but they are decent options for a comprimise.

Who is his favorite baseball (baseball season is going on right now) team? Find out when they are playing and take him to ESPN Club for a meal during one of their games that will be on tv there. Drinking around the world (getting a drink from each country then walking to the next while shopping, etc.), drinking along the monoral (same premise as in epcot except you do it at all the monorail resort bars/restaurants, a few very nice golf courses, universal offers more adult type thrill rides, water parks, downtown disney (house of blues etc.), cirque de soliel (he likes vegas...).

Sadly though none of these compare to as good as it can get away from Disney, but very good options if you're looking for non theme park ideas. The trend of what happens is, these type of people usually don't want to get up early (because they aren't excited), so you're late arrivers and miss all the best standby times. So, plan to use every last second of the PM extra magic hours and if a park doesn't have PMEMH, make sure you ride the most popukar attractions in the last hour or 30 minutes before the park closes.

All moderate and delux resorts have hot tubs so, bring a small collapseable cooler from home and make sure you have some beer/wine for the end of the night and you guys can enjoy the hot tub pool together. The resorts sell beer, but there is a Hess express gas station located within walking distance of the Boardwalk Resort (and another at downtown disney) which sell suitcases much cheaper than disney. Don't try and force mornings on him.

Leave him at home? Is he the type to whine and complain once he's there? Or will he make the best of it?

He will make the best of it. He's not a complainer.

I think starting in EPCOT is a great idea. I do plan on doing some signature dining while we are there. He does love food :)

EPCOT is a great idea. Won't be overrun with too many little kids and you have space to move about.

Hmm... Las Vegas... Does he appreciate amazing live shows and acting or just the um, games?
Maybe, if it isn't too princessy for him, the BATB show at HS, and/or the other shows. I like the EPCOT first idea, then move to HS. He'll forget all about that girly/kiddie park until you drag him there.
Also, I don't know anything about his interests, but if he is at all into architecture or engineering, just give him a chance to appreciate all that goes into making all the parks what they are.
And eat and drink. :)

My DD's BF hadn't been since he was a kid. He was pretty ambivalent about going. He didn't seem enthused about dining plan, either. However, by the end of the trip, he was ready to go back to WDW, and he especially like how the DP worked so that you just handed over your card to get food.

On the other hand, here's a caution. Me and several others with partners who don't like WDW had relationship problems because of this. Lucky for me, we lived in Florida while raising our child, and DD and me could easily go to WDW by ourselves for the weekend. Some others who live far away have had major issues because their partner didn't share their love of WDW. Just something to think about when assessing what's important in your life.

I know this may sound like blasphemy, but if he's not a "Disney" guy, I'd consider skipping MK and ust going to the other three parks. Lots of grownup friendly attractions, no "It's a Small World" being piped in 24/7, and plenty of booze to keep him drunk, Vegas-style, the entire trip.

:thumbsup2 My non-Disney SIL loved this, and she actually said....get ready...wait for it...."The next time we go to Disney..." I had to ask her to repeat herself because she usually only complains about everything Disney. She ended up loving Epcot. She wants to return for the Food & Wine Festival someday.

We went to La Nouba on our honeymoon and DH loved it. If your BF loves Vegas, he might love seeing a Cirque show.
