ideas for killing time before evening flight

Our flight out of MCO is at 7:30pm. I'm trying to figure out how to kill time before the cruise, other than hanging out in the airport for several extra hours. We have DCL ground transportation, so we don't really have the option as it stands to drive ourselves somewhere. Here are my questions:

- Can I check my bags at the DCL terminal with the airline (Delta), but then take the bus to WDW instead of the airport? This will at least save me needing to carry luggage around all day.

- What are the options of where the bus will take us to in WDW? I assume all the resorts, but will it go straight to Downtown Disney, for instance?

- If we do end up at somewhere like DTD, what are my best options for getting back to MCO?

- Any other ideas of places to go or ways to kill the time?

The day will be 12/22, if it matters. So xmas will be in full swing!

Thanks!

I don't think you'll be able to take the WDW bus. Your transfers are only for to and from the airport. You could possibly call DCL and see if you can get an additional transportation voucher and modify your existing transfer.

Currently you have:
Airport to DCL
DCL to Airport

What you want is:
Airport to DCL
DCL to WDW
and WDW to Airport

We got a "day room" right there at the Hyatt! We had a place to drop our luggage as it was too early to check. Went and ate in the food court. Looked at the shops and hung out in the room. Very nice room and we were really glad to have it! Nice to be able to freshen up before our flight home also!

Would do it again!:thumbsup2

We rent a car from Budget at the port and return it to the airport. It is less expensive than using the bus and we can use the car to go wherever we want, which is usually to Downtown Disney for some shopping and lunch. You could also go to one of the resorts for lunch, which can be fun (there are buses at DTD that go to all of the resorts). You just need to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to drive back to the airport. Turning in the car never seems to take that long.

If you rent a car at the port you shold still call DCL and have your transfers changed to only Airport to DCL and drop the Port to Airport portion.

Renting a car is a good idea as well. Downtown Disney would kill a bunch of time before the you have to get to the airport to go home.

We originally had DCL transportation back to the airport. We also have a late flight out. We decided to rent a car instead for the day and explore Cocoa Beach and the Space Museum. You can rent a car for about $30.

Will I be refunded for part of the transfer cost if I remove the DCL - MCO segment?
Likewise, will I be charged more if we add/change it to be MCO-DCL, then DCL-WDW, then WDW-MCO?

Thanks!

Here's a thought - how many are in your group? Rent a car both ways! It really is cheaper, and the flexibility can't be beat. You can stop along the way and pick us a few carry on items like if you enjoy bottled water, etc.

I removed the transfer before I paid in full so it was removed from the balance. You should be able to get it removed.

We got a day room at the Hyatt also. Our flight didn't leave until 7pm so we were able to check in at 9am and check out at 5pm. We took naps after we checked in, went swimming, did some shopping and ate lunch, took naps again, and then took the flight home. I would highly recommend this and we will most definitely do it again. It was a nice way to wind down such a great but very busy vacation!

I wished we had known about the "day room" at the airport. We had a late flight as well and weren't able to check our luggage until 4 hours prior to our flight. It was miserable sitting there with your luggage for 9 hours!

I'm glad I know this now, because we are planning another cruise next fall and the direct flight back to Dayton on Airtran is always evening.

How much are Day rooms? that sounds good our flight doesn't leave till after 8 pm ...

I know this might be a silly question, but....

I've only gone to WDW once, and we never made it to DTD. Do you have to pay to get in here?

DTD is free, except for Disney Quest, the Movie Theater, and Cirque de Sole.... I think that's all that charges admission.

We just got back this week - our flight was at 5:00 so we rented a car when we got to the airport and went to DTD for a few hours. It worked out great and the kids were happy! Also we didn't even have a car reserved we just called when we got there.
