Hi. I hope I can get some ideas here, because I simply have none. :confused3

This year has been TERRIBLE for my immediate family, and so my mother is taking us to Disney in February to give us a little bit of peace. Now, they aren't rolling in money, either. My father just retired from trucking, and, so this trip is not something that was done without A LOT of thought, and, her insistance.

Now, I would like to get her something while we are there- something special so that she knows how much this means to me. I had thought about taking her over to O'Hanas and getting a child care provider, but, with 4 kids that simply isn't in the budget.

My budget, in reality, is very low. I am going back to school now and living from student loans (which barely pays the mortgage). So, that is my dilemma.... What can I do to make this special for her?

I am planning on around $100 or so..... Which isn't much in the Magical Kingdom (LOL)

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hoping you have a better 09 and a great Disney trip. Heare are a few ideas:

* digital picture frame that you can load w/pics from your trip

* make a memory photo book of your trip w/online service like shutterfly or snapfish, etc.

* buy an 8x10 picture of your entire family in front of the castle and put in frame Mom picks out at WDW.

I guess I have so many picture ideas because I love looking at our pics from our trips.

I like the idea of a memory book, or a scrapbook, of your trip.

My parents took my family and my sister's family to WDW in 2003. It was my mom's retirement gift to herself. She wanted "one last family vacation." We had a blast. My sister and I looked *all* over trying to find something to say thank you. Then we saw it...

They have some nice scrapbooks there -- the kind that you can add more pages to. We found one that said "2003" and had lots of characters on the front. Neither my sister nor I are really "scrapbookers" but we decided to make my mom a scrapbook from the trip. We went through all of our photos, picked the best ones, wrote about our favorite parts and the funny things that happened each day. (Like how DH and BIL were "talking smack" to each other about the scores they would get on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, but Mom beat them both handily. And how our server at the San Angel Inn, Jorge, convinced my BIL to order something other than what he had originally wanted. It turned out to be turkey with cold green gravy. Despite Jorge's prediction, my BIL did not beg him for the recipe.) On the last page, each of us wrote a little "thank you" note saying how much we appreciated the trip.

Anyway -- my mother *loves* that Scrapbook. She says even today, five years later, she looks through it at least once a week. That scrapbook has given her more enjoyment than any other souvenir, dinner out, special tour, etc. could have possibly given her. :)

I think the scrap book idea is a cute one! You can even have the kids get involved and they could make the pages for grandma! They could even do it together and relive the trip all over again.

I would tell her about it and let her pick it out if she likes the idea and have her and the kids get stuff to decorate the pages while you are there too.

This way it is a fun activity for the trip ad you get to relive it while making the trip and getting some extra fun time with all of the kids!

How about a photopass CD, along with the promise from everyone to cheerfullly pose for every single possible picture???

Mom will have some nice mementos of the trip.

If you pre-order, it will be $99.

I 2nd the photo pass so she can pick her own photos and you guys can have fun getting your picture taken all the time together.

My parents just took us for Christmas. I booked them a tour at their fav park AK. They loved it!!!! I also got them a digital photo frame with all the pictures of our Disney trip so that they have something to open. I got my dad a "Mine, Mine, Mine" mug as he and my daughter said it a million times after seening the Nemo show at AK (awsome show!) and my mom a Christmas ornament. I know they will love the frame and I put alot of other family pictures they will like.

LOL, since I'm an avid scrapbooker, I was going to suggest getting one as well. She would treasure that always. As my hubby always says, he doesn't mind looking at pictures but he enjoys looking through a scrapbook because each page tells a story. You could do that OR

Take advantage of the Photopass people and get a whole bunch of pics taken. Then take your favorite one of everyone and send it off to one of those places that can make it into a throw blanket for her. Walmart does it...look....http://photos.walmart.com/revieworderstore/prd=ThrowBlanket/prdtype=12214/ and it falls within your budget.

What nationality are you?

If it is one of the Epcot countries, can you get something from one of them?

If you don't scrapbook you can make one on Shutterfly, etc.. I make a 20 page one for $40 every year.

I was going to say one of the fireworks cruises but I think those are more then $100.

Would she like BBB for herself?
