We are taking the family to DL for our son's birthday in March. I want to surprise him when we get to the hotel with some sort of gift basket. So far my thoughts are to include a disney gift card, an autograph book and pen and a lanyard with a couple of pins. What else could I include? He will be 8 years old.

Also, does anybody have any recommended sites where I can get these Disney items? Is there an official Disney pin trading site?

Lastly, we are taking him to Goofy's Kitchen for his birthday dinner. We aren't staying on-site, but can I order a cake from disney dining and have it delivered anyway? :confused3

Thanks!

What about some Mickey ears with his name on the back from him to wear? You can order these types of items from DelivEARS. The phone number is 1-800-362-4533.

I believe this is the official pin trading website.

I've never ordered a cake from Disney dining myself, but I'm pretty sure you can still order and have it at the restaurant even if you're staying off site.

Disney Stickers, perhaps a Disney DVD, a Disney T-shirt, water bottles, and I have seen in Walmart that they had mini Disney Flash lights for kids.

There are some great Disney t-shirts on the outlet section of Disneyshopping.com for around $5. I just ordered some for our family to wear on our trip. Dh and ds to wear Donald Duck. Dd and I to wear Daisy Duck. For $20 for 4 shirts, you can't beat it.

I made these baskets for our October trip. I bought stuff at the Disney store and also the dollar store. They were pretty cheep to make. This is what was in them:
Candy
Disney Dollars
Crayons
Coloring Books
Disney T-shirt
Puzzles
Character Plush (small)
Misc stuff

Like the other posters (love the pics of the baskets by the way) I was going to suggest the dollar store for some items, plus Disny.com the shopping part, they always have things on clearance ( like pajamas, pool towels, swim suits,).
Walgreens carries and puts on sale disposable Disney character cameras. Gum, joural with a Disney pen or two (lots of Disney stuff at Dollar Tree and 99 cent only stores). How about a small photo album? Change for the squishing penny machines. Travel game for the ride home. Disney dollars, more candy! LOL
Have a wonderful time.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the great ideas!

I love the idea of getting him a disposable camera and photo album. He would really enjoy that. I forgot about the disney pennies. I know he would love to collect those too. I will definitely check out the dollar store now. A disney t-shirt is something I want to find now too

Thanks Jennifer for the link and phone number. The ears are a must. I want to get him the birthday hat.

I knew I could count on you guys for help.

I just got a bunch of things for my kids for our surprise trip in three weeks - I got disney pillows at the disney store for $6 - blankets for $7 - and character pajamas - also disney character pez dispensers and color wonder books from walmart.
