I'm looking for some breakfast and lunch ideas of healthy foods that I can pack in our suitcase -- stuff that can travel/be unopened at room temperature but can be refrigerated if needed once were at our resort. I don't think we need enough to warrant a grocery service delivery. Any ideas? Thanks!

Cereals in Tupperware containers. Muffins. We do pop tarts too but you said healthy and vacation for us means no veggies and nothing too healthy!

Also bagels, like lenders frozen ones and then they can sit in the fridge when you get there.

Obviously peanut butter/soy nut/almond/ sunflower butter and jelly.

I buy the bags of pepperoni and salami that don't need to be refrigerated until opened and my kids live them with crackers. Or I guess you can use wraps.

Tuna fish, with a can opener and a small jar of mayo.

Single serve Mac and cheese.

Will you have a microwave for heating?

If so, what about Uncle Ben's ready rice, or Chef Boyardee microwave bowls. THere's also Dinty Moore bowls and the Hormel Compleats

Trail mix, dried fruit, fruit bowls (in juice not heavy syrup), peanut/almond butter.

Go Picnic has boxed snack and lunches that do not require refrigeration. They have all natural, gluten free and vegan options.

Granola bars or protien bars or fruit leather.

You can buy those Dole cups of fruit or individual applesauce cups (I would pack them inside a tupperware just to be sure they don't leak on anything).

Peanut butter crackers.

Whole fruits (oranges should travel well, grapes, apples, etc. can be okay if you pack them in a tupperware in your suitcase).

Oatmeal will travel well, you can buy the instant kind and add hot water to make it in the room. Either the individual packets or the big container would work.

Bagels would travel well and can be eaten as is, or toasted (at the food court) once you are ready to eat them.

My kids love when I buy individual boxes of cereal for trips. They serve both as breakfast or as a throw in the backpack type snack to take into the park.

Our general packing list includes: organic whole apples, clementines, a container of apricots or plums or some other fruit that travels well, squeezable fruit/veggie pouches, homemade trail mix, cashews, pistachios, Annie's crackers, homemade zucchini mini muffins, Sol bites peanut butter and jelly packs, homemade kale chips, raisins, dried mangoes, etc. We've started adding a Whole Foods trip with a rental car for a day because we really like having more to make into meals for our trips. We aren't health nuts and don't deprive ourselves of treats but eating exclusively at Disney for a week makes us all feel sick and we've all sort of lost our taste for overly-processed Disney desserts so we stick to just a meal a day in the restaurants and supplement as much as possible with mini-fridge/microwave-friendly foods and slightly better snack options that we bring or buy.

We always eat breakfast in our room. We bring Almond milk from home - the ones that can be stored not refrigerated. (If we don't have a fridge, these are easy to keep cold in an ice bucket). We bring cereal and cereal bars and Lara bars as well. And then pick up some fresh fruit. But if you can't get fresh fruit, then fruit cups work. (I'd think most varieties of apples would travel well though). We also do fruit leathers, but I call those desserts. (My kids aren't big into dried fruits and nuts, but those will work if your kids will eat them!)

I'm struggling to find dinner ideas without having a microwave. We're testing out some ideas now from the grocery store. I figure I can use the hot water from the coffee maker. I'm finding the stores have a lot more of things that you add regular water to and then microwave these days than to just add hot water. I'm going to try heating up one of those instant meals in some hot water from the coffee maker at home to see if it's hot enough. The Tasty Bites ones are good. I figure if that works, we can have that and pack some Naan bread and be all set for a meal.

We always bring:

Cereal(I pack the kids mini boxes)
Fiber one bars and granola bars
Almonds
Bagels and peanut butter
Oatmeal packets

Mini fruit cups
Goldfish
Fruit snacks for kids
Pack able applesauce

I'm not sure if it has changed in the last year but we've generally had good luck requesting a microwave. If we didn't get one, we were always able to use the one in the food court of our resort. Maybe a bit inconvenient but worth it to us if we only needed to microwave one or two quick things.
