Hi guys,

Haven't lurked around here as much as I would have liked recently, but it's suddenly hit me that I'm going to be in DLRP in two weeks time! :cool1:

We were going to stay in one of the budget hotels just outside of DLRP, but have now ended up booking the Santa Fe through a friend currently working in WDW! So if it's possible, I'm even more excited now that we're staying onsite!

So I was just looking for some ideas of what we could do on arrival day. We're arrive at Gare du Nord station at around 13:00 on Friday 10th August, so am assuming it'll take us an hour or so to make it to Disney on the RER. We then have the rest of the afternoon and evening free before spending the next two days in the parks. What would you guys do with your time?

Could we use any of the pools if we stay at Santa Fe?

We'll obviously go out for food that night, and our first thought was Cafe Mickey. Or might have a think about Inventions for dinner. We're thinking we'll end the night with a drinkie or two in the DLH :)

I did suggest to my friend who I'm going with, that we could get a park ticket and spend the evening in the park but she wasn't too keen on that. I think because we're heading into the parks on Saturday and Sunday, she'd rather spend her money on something else... who knows

Any ideas/tips that we could do that afternoon would be greatly appreciated :)

No unfortunately you can't use the pool! :(

In the Disneyland hotel Thursday to Sunday at 4 the characters do a bit of a dance on the stairs and then are available for meet and greet! As it's a Friday afternoon I would check that out of course If you are there in time for that.

We ate at both inventions and cafe Mickey in March and much preferred Cafe Mickey. I personally wouldn't return to inventions I was really unimpressed by food and character interaction!

Definitely a few drinks in the DLH sound good though! The strawberry champagne is very good if I do say so ;)

I know I'll be spending a few hours in the new World of Disney so I know that would fill most of my afternoon lol!

As you are staying on site you get park passes for length of stay if its a package & not room only booked

Thanks both!

Unfortunately we haven't got a package (booked room only and have Sky tickets) so won't have park access on the first night.

We'll head to DLH to see the characters, dinner at cafe mickey and just take it easy! And yes, the new World of Disney will definitely feature somewhere too :)

Thanks again!

Also use the time to look round some of the hotels.
If you walk from Santa Fe you can cross the bridge to Cheyenne then walk along the river to the lake area and there are 3 hotels round the lake (NY, SL and NPB).

You said about having drinks in the DLH bar - this is the most expensive as the bar prices go down depending on the hotel. It is worth looking at but also consider the NY bar and SL - they are both really nice

I haven't been in there yet but the one in WDW is amazing so I have high hopes for DLP

Me to... We have planned to spend an hour in there, before the parks open, when we go in August :dance3:

OT: Does CMs get discount in all parks around the world??? I didn't know that.

So what is it exactly then, a history of disney in pictures or something..?

WoD is way smaller than at WDW (and DLR California too for that matter) and much of the merchandise is the same as in the parks. I wouldn't count on spending a few hours there. Even an hour seems long. I was taking lots of pictures and was out in less than that.

With a 18 month old everything takes 3 times as long lol! I'm sure I will restock a few shelves :)

Walk around the lake, have a drinky at a couple of the bars, wander around Disney Village and eat at EARL of SANDWICH !!!

Seeing as the park is going to be open until 23.00 and you will be there at 14.30 I'd be going in as there is not a great deal to do in the Village

Or why not put your bags in at Gare du Nord or even better down at Gare de Lyon (then you are already on the A after when you pick it up) and explore Paris a bit

You could always go on a Foxity tour http://www.foxity.com/en
or just walk along the Seine a bit and stop at Notre Dame and the île de la Cité and île St Louis, go and look at the ET from over at Trocadéro, go onto the roof of the Galeries Lafayette dept store and admire the view for free (if you like shoes they have an amazing collection in the basement) etc etc

Just another idea :goodvibes
