The last time we went on a cruise, we flew home the day after because of airfare.
We stayed at the airport & the kids swam in the pool. We had a nice dinner & watched World Cup soccer. The next morning we got up early & flew home.

Just checked airfare for our next cruise & once again its a lot cheaper to fly home the next day. This time, late morning.

We might stay at the airport, but I'm not positive.

Please share your ideas on what to do after getting off the ship & where to stay.

The flight I'm looking at departs around 11:30 am, if that matters.

Thank you

You could stay at WDW -- either go to a park, hang at the resort, go to DS, tour resorts or other non-park things. We like to choose a moderate or deluxe and take advantage of the activities/amenities that we might not have time to do on a trip when visiting parks every day. If you take ME back to the resort, it will be an early pick-up (ME picks up 3 hours prior so plan on 8:30am).

Enjoy your cruise!

Here's what I posted previously about my after cruise hotel experience.
We too stayed an extra day, but we didn't want to wear ourselves out with a big excursion or theme park on Saturday, so we chose the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. It was more expensive ($225), but it had fantastic swimming pools, open 24 hours a day (exercise room open 24 hours too), some of them heated, plus a slide, and from 8AM to 7PM they had free bicycle (including 2 and 4 person Surry bikes), and free boating options (Canoes, Kayaks, paddle boats, Aquabikes, etc.) They even let us check into our room at 11:00 AM when we arrived! It was such a relaxing alternative to trying to cram in a day that the theme parks, and cheaper than theme parks too.

This worked well for us. It is nearer to the Parks than to the airport, but that was OK for us since we rented a car at the Port and then dropped it at the airport the next morning. This let us drive around for dinner etc. also.

You could check the airport hotel later and rent a car from the port dropping off later at the airport and go visit the Kennedy space centre during the day. Maybe eat out somewhere after the space centre then drive to airport and stay the night, fly home in morning.

You could rent a car and go to Kennedy Space center, staying either at Cocoa Beach or the surrounding area. We picked up the car in Cocoa Beach and dropped it off at MCO the next day for our late-morning flight home last year. My 6yo and us loved everything about KSC - but we are kinda nerdy... Having done the math, it's much less expensive than a day at WDW (our plan for this year), considering the earliest you can hope to be in a park via the DCL shuttle is 12:30.

Which port?

We rented a car and went to Kennedy Space Center and then we drove to Orlando and did the IFly indoor skydiving. We ate dinner, dropped the car off at the airport and stayed at the Hyatt MCO. Our flight the next day was at 7:30 am so it worked out really well for us.

I'd do an early walk-off and head to WDW. It's so hard for me to go to Orlando and NOT go to WDW! But...that may be hectic. In that case, I'd go to Kennedy Space Center, then stay somewhere near the airport that has a good pool.
