I do a lot to add a magical touches to our trips -- and my kids love all of it!!
Here's some of the things I do. I'd love to hear more ideas...

* Tink gifts in the room each am
* Pins for pin trading
* new Disney themed PJ's for the trip
* Decorate our hotel room window
* pressed pennies & autographs

This year I want to make family Disney shirts. Any other fun ideas or special little surprises?

I don't know if you allow your children to have tatoos but last year we found a whole bunch of them at the Dollar Store. I allowed my son to wear one a day of the character of his choice and we started doing this while we were driving to Florida. The really neat part was that he could show the characters a tatoo of them and the interaction got to be about ten times better.

Best part for mom--I don't know what kind of tatoos we got but they washed off very easily :thumbsup2 .

Also, you probably already stock up on glow sticks before you go but they also seem to add a big touch to our trips that I never expected. I always make my son bring extras so he can have one for himself and one to give away to someone else.

For our last trip, I went over on the Creative DISigners board and got some patterns for Character Nuggets to leave on the kids pillows, lots of cutting and trimming but the kids loved them!!

I made up "park treats" and "park games" for my boys. I packed them into the suitcase and then when we got there I let the boys ndecide each day what they wanted to take. Nothing big just mini bottles of bubbles, mini note pads (great for on the buses as we had a long ride somedays becasue we stayed at the All Star Movies", mini card games etc. I got all of this from the dollar store but it was a nice addition to their day in case we needed to wait in line. Also I did the tatoos my youngest loved them and I saved a ton of money becasue we did not pay for the ones at the park or at the hotel which are very expenive IMO. Have a GREAT trip!:goodvibes

We like to:

* look for special, seasonal jibbitz when we are there....so far we have Christmas and Halloween jibbitz

* have a character meal that includes photo package or buy at least 1 nice family photo when we are there (we usually don't end up buying the photopass pics/cd at home)

I did this too. They were a huge hit with our kiddos too.

Yeah, we make t-shirts so we can stick together easily and don't get lost. We use bright colors so they stand out!

I am going to do the character nuggets too! Along with:
lollipops
mini bubbles
crayons and paper
I found mini etch a sketches at toys r us. one has buzz lightyear the other is lightening mcqueen
glow sticks!
tattoos
and of course stickers(my kids love them)

Okay now the mini etch a skecthes, that's a great idea. Where do you get these character nuggets? Are they expensive?

We did many of the things listed above for our son's birthday trip in November. Some of the other things I found at our Dollar Store were -

-'Mickey in an airplane' puzzle for on the plane
-Cut-outs of pirate things (sword, hat, treasure map, treasure chest) magically appeared on the walls the morning of his pirate cruise.
- Animal cut-outs (safari jeep, elephant, zebra, hat) magically appeared on our Animal Kingdom morning
- Happy Birthday banner & balloons - much cheaper than the Disney Florist :goodvibes

I found the cut-outs right around back-to-school time. Took some blue sticky stuff along to stick them up.

I also found on some Disney Website a Happy Birthday Banner I could print with his name & then cut out.

If you can swing it, the pontoon boat cruise to see Wishes from the Grand Floridian dock is amazing! There is a thread somewhere on the disboards for sharing cruise rides.

Good Luck!

I take some of those mini jewels (you can get them at craft stores) and when we go to see Philharmagic and the scene with the jewels floating comes up I "grab" them from the air for my little one. She truly believes it's magic.

We bought a ton of glowsticks for our last trip and I let DD pass them out at nite before Fireworks started at Magic Kingdom. She loved giving them to kids (and some cute boys her age) that weren't holding any of the light spinners or anything that glowed. You can find them in tubes or plastic wrapping at the Dollar store, Michaels, AC Moore lots of little places like that and they are fairly inexpensive. I think we brought about 4 tubes per nite for her to pass out, and she always asked the parent before giving anything to the child.

LOL:lmao: That's brilliant. I am totally going to do that!! I might not even tell DH! What a riot! And my kids are at a great age for that....it will totally shake things up for them...it would be so totally unexpected! (Reminds me of a commercial where you see a grandfather and grandson in Rockerfeller Center and the grandfather plants a pine cone, then a few weeks later the grandfather takes him back and the huge Christmas tree is up -- and the kid is completely amazed!):rotfl:

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone! I'm taking notes. Found the nuggets. They are adorable!

Thanks again all!!

I loved temp. tattoos- I bought mine in DTD, they were PotC but the incredibly cool part was they glowed in the dark:cool1: They stayed on for about 3-4 days, which I liked, but would come off if you scrubbed a bit.

Another thing my cousin did was took her sister's Oliver Oakin doll and took pictures of him EVERYWHERE around Disney World (which led to a very amusing ToT picture), but managed to keep it a secret until we got back. Then, her sister not only got to see her own picture's, but her doll's as well!

Have an amazing trip!
