I am looking for some ideas for a special "treat" that I could surprise my parents with during our upcoming trip. We travel to Disney with them every few years and they always treat us with something.. .sometimes they pay for our room, sometimes our flights, sometimes everything. In return, my sister and I like to do something special for them as a "thank you". In the past we have booked special dinners, an Illuminations cruise with a cake, we did a cake for them at our CRT meal to celebrate their anniversary, done the Harbor Nights at Portofino Hotel at Universal, you get the picture. Any ideas for a nice surprise for two 70+ year olds? I have tried to convince them to do Victoria and Alberts, but they are worried the food is going to be too rich. My mom loves fireworks... we have done the fireworks party at WDW and the Illuminations cruise... wondering if a dessert party for them might be a good idea....

How about a tour, like The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour (3 hours) or the Behind the Seeds Tour (1 hour)?

I have thought about those, but I am worried about all the walking. My mom has some trouble getting around

Highway in the Sky Dine Around
Day Cruise Around the World (just a few days old)
Pay for MM and take lots of pictures of the whole family or book a photo session for a family portrait onsite
Celebration at the Top
Spa treatment
Cabana rental for pool day

I think that Memory Maker would be my favorite treat. My DD made a photo album for us using personalized pictures from MM, and a canvas picture of all of us for my Christmas present. She "won" Christmas...a contest they all have to see who can make me cry the most.

They could do a horse & carriage ride. I know they offer the carriage ride at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. I think they offer it at one of the Animal Kingdoms resorts as well if I'm not mistaken. We did the one at Riverside. It just took us around the resort area and along the river that runs behind the resort. It wasn't very expensive about 3 years ago. I don't know what it may cost now. I can't remember how long it lasted. Maybe about 20 minutes.

Ooh... some of these look so cool! Thank you!

That is so sweet!

That's a really interesting idea!

A second vote for the carriage ride at Port Orleans. My husband surprised me with that for an anniversary and it was great. One my happiest Disney memories. We went just after sunset. Hubby gave me a flower. A brief ride I will never forget.

Make a reservation. Walk then to the departure point but Send just the two of them. You may have to pay cash for this as they did not take the room key or charge card back then. You paid when you got in the coach.

I was so delighted I was in tears and am again thinking of that evening now. You are sweet children to think of them.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the price of the horse and carriage rides?

A couple of suggestions from someone who's close to the age of your parents:

1) Sunday brunch at California Grill. Food is wonderful, service impeccable and the views of Seven Sea Lagoon in the morning see stunning
2) Wanayama Safari at Animal Kingdom Lodge. There isn't a lot of walking, it's an up close and personal guided tour with no more than 10 guests, and it ends with a meal at Jiko. Very cool.
