So today I got thinking about how much I LOVE disney....and I'm getting so excited because we are going this month! I was trying to think of something special that I can do or buy that would be memorable for Henry's first trip to WDW (he's one). I am obviously going to make a scrap book upon return with great pictures of our family vacation. But I was wondering....what could be something special that perhaps I get each trip or add on to? Maybe someday he'll be a disney nut like me and really love this special "something." What are your thoughts?

There is a great Christmas store in DTD. Maybe get a new ornament for him every year. I have 6 children, and started doing thiswith my first. When they get married, I will give them all but the first year, so their trees will have built in history on them!

Get a PhotoPass and use it wherever possible. The photographers at Disney are really good. They were able to get a shot of my daughter looking up at Mickey with awe filled eyes.

Also, Disney sells picture frames that say "our first trip". And, they have scrapbook albumns with they year on them.

You can get him Mickey ears with his name engraved at MK in the Toontown area.

Make sure to take a picture of him beside the "Indian" statue on Main Street. We do this every time we go to see how much DD has grown between visits.

We've developed some traditions in souvenirs over the years...I get a Christmas ornament, DH gets a couple coffee mugs, the boys always get a cool T-shirt or new beach towel (AK seems to have the best ones) and the girls get a parasol/umbrella from the French pavilion when they are about 4-5, at about age 12 they get a glass slipper engraved w/their name from the castle gift shop, and at 15-16 their dad buys them their first pearl from the pick-a-pearl in the Japan pavilion and has it set in a necklace! They look forward to each new "age" and we take lots of photos of them choosing, etc. They also have spent their own money to buy a charm bracelet and choose a charm every time we go to Disney or anywhere else on vacation too, to mark the place. The boys always get something from the Star Tours shop or Lego store. We love traditions!

How about a shirt each trip, save them, when you have enough have someone make them into a lap quilt or something.

We bought Mickey ears for our DS when he was 2.

Also, we are ornament people. We buy one from every vacation location and have a specific section on the tree for travel ornaments. I just checked out the ornaments available through the Photo Pass, and we might do that this year.

I always get an ornament and a sweatshirt with the year on it.. and tons of pictures....

I love the silhouette cut out that we got of the boys first trip. It isn't something that I would do for each trip, but it is a great memento of a first trip.

Another idea is to start a postcard collection. There are so many to choose from, its easy to find one that has represents a special meaning for each trip. That way no matter how many times you visit the park you can add to the collection.

Enjoy your first trip!

Ornament!! We get one from every new place we visit. My tree is decked with ornaments from all our travels.

My favoite Disney souvineer is a canvas bag that I use to get character autograph. I got our last name embroidered on it and the characters use sharpie pens to autograph it. Every trip we get more autographs. I have two so one day I can pass one to each of my kids for their family's Disney trips. I like it b/c it is unique and no one else had one just like it!! :)

That would be my first choice. How about a photobook from the Photopass pictures? Not cheap - but then you said something special so if this is an option you could save them up for a milestone birthday (celebrated with another trip of course ;)). You could still team that up with the ornament. Or even do a photobook to start and follow the subsequent years with ornaments. I think you have a lovely idea. :goodvibes

Get his first haircut at the barber shop on Main street in Mk, and take lots of photos!...they allegedly make it a special event!
