Evening all,

My mum and dad are both in the 70's, are going to Florida in October for 3 weeks. They have been going at least once a year for the the past 30 years. No really. They could have bought WDW by now, even though Dad says WDW hasn't been the same since they closed his favourite ride (Captain Nemo's Subs)

They just love it there. When we took the kids 4 years ago I was the only 36 year old queuing for the Hulk, Duelling Dragons etc etc with his Mum & Dad.!:cool1:

My Dad is now 75 and still works part time to fund their Florida habit, but my Mum told me on Monday that this will be their last trip. They are getting on and following my Dad's bypass last year (not stopped him riding the coasters!) the cost of insurance i killing it for them.

I want to book a surprise for them, but need some ideas of something really cool that would really top of their last time at WDW.

Seeing as you folks have helps us so much with our Christmas trip, I thought I would try you with another challenge.:thumbsup2

What an amazing story.

Maybe afternoon tea at grand floridian.

I'm sure someone will be along in a minute with some great ideas.

Is there a price limit?

We did the afternoon tea at GF last month, really enjoyed it.

How about one of the behind the scenes tours or maybe lunch with an imagineer?

I think I'd really like your parents.:goodvibes

Awwww, your folks sound like what me and DH are aspiring to!

I would imagine that they have done an awful lot already - liking the idea for a back stage tour - Key to the Kingdom tour sounds great to us.

We've had lunch with an imagineer before and whilst it was AMAZING to chat to someone who has soooo many ideas and what they have contributed to the parks etc.. I think it would also make me a little sad if i didn't get to see some of the 'coming ideas' which they tell you about knowing it was my last trip.

Victoria and Alberts is a choice from me, done it a few times and it's always awesome, perhaps booking the chef's table ? Illuminatiosn cruise for a bit of a romantic feel?

hope it helps :)

How about one of the hot air balloon trips which go over Disney? I think that would be incredibly special and an amazing memory for them. Plus they get to see Disney from a different perspective!!

What about a fireworks cruise? Or a couple of nights in a MK view room at one of the monorail resorts?

We went with DH grand parents last year and the are late 70s too. What made it special for them was we had 4 generations of family there as we had DH parents and our DD.

They had also been going for years but it was the first time they had eaten at Disney TS restaurant so having dinner at Cali Grill was magical for them.

Your story made me tear up ....as my parents used to go to Disney when it 1st was built and they carried on going every yr which ment I then went every yr :) well I was adopted by them and they was of grand parent age ( never bothered me) we had our last family trip with both my parents when I was 14 Im now 25 it included my brother and his wife and kids wasso magical for my dad and he sadly passed away 6 months after , we now save every other yr and take my wonderful mum with us and its loverly for her as I now take my children and I got married in the Disney pavillion this is something that my dear dad always wanted me to do as I was his princess!
I think its wonderful that you are trying to organise something special for your parents...my mum is feeling the travel side of it these days so this next trip might be her last , she has said that for the last 2 trips but still pushes on this yr she gotherself an ECV this should help alot .

I hope you find something wonderful for them! and wish them the best holiday yet:wizard:

It's made me tear up too ... I first went to WDW aged 20 with my mum and dad, the last trip was mum's retirement trip in 2008 ... I was 37. I'm not sure they'll get there again, Dad's 72 now and not in the best of health. As you say, everything else aside the insurance becomes prohibitive.

I know my parents would love the GF afternoon tea - but you know your parents best.

Like the PP said, I wish them (and you) the best trip ever

(now I better go blow my nose and stop snivelling!)

Well folks the parents are back from Florida. As they're big Rugby fans were were going to organise tickets to see Tampa Bay Bucs. But when Dad found out he had a fit. It went like this.

"Last trip, last (censored as this is a family site) trip, I'm not that old."

They came over last night with the biggest bag of halloween candy from MNSSH for the kids and a bag of coupons and guides for us.

Moment of the trip, riding the Hulk back to back and then been dragged to meet the husband, who was too scared to ride, of a Mom & daughter who rode it with them.

Dad is 76 and had a heart quad by-pass last year & Mum is 74:worship:

Mad as a box of frogs!

ooh so glad they had an amazing time ... when I grow up I definitely want to be your parents!!!!

How cool are your parents?! :goodvibes i'm glad they had a nice time, they must have the highest combined age for couples who have rode the hulk ;)
