We see my DD's cardiologist yearly and he is so awesome and reassuring. I would like to bring him something at our next visit in about a week. He actually had a heart transplant about 2 years ago, so if it is food related it would have to be super healthy.

I figured I would ask all of you super creative DISer's for an idea-everyone is always so helpful. Thanks in advance!!! :goodvibes

Personally, I wouldn't go the food route.

When my dad's neurologist left the area, we brought her a big bouquet of flowers, although she was a woman. Why not call his office staff and find out his interests? That might lead you to a good idea.

Do you have an Edible Arrangements or similar type of place nearby? I have always sent my doctors and dentists(And vets too) a nice fruit arrangement from them-sometimes I let them deliver it and sometimes I pick it up and take it there myself.it always gets rave reviews:woohoo: and the staff all have something healthy
HTH,
Trish

Another vote for the edible fruit arrangements, along with a nice card.

A thoughtful note would probably be greatly appreciated. I have been a physician for many years and notes are few and far between and have a significant effect.

I second the note. Besides, when I worked in an MD office, the staff got all the goodies that were sent to the doc, lol.

I thought the same thing, but didn't want to get anyone fired up! It's not polite to be a hoarder with the goodies!

P.S. Did residency and med school in Albany abmitch 01.

It really depends on the Dr and the hospital they work at. I'm seen at Children's Hospital Boston, and my Dr is NOT a white coat kind of guy, not even a bit. He's always in button down cartoon shirts, or cartoon ties. I've bought Disney shirts and ties for him, as well as brought him a set of mouse ears embriodered on the back Dr. _____

If the Dr IS a white coat kind of guy or is also an adult Dr, I agree Edible Arrangements and a nice note!

I asked this same question on the community board not too long ago. I wanted to get something nice for the dr. who saved my life last year. He literally told my dh I had 15 min, left to live.

I ended up giving him cookies (of course the staff would eat it too), a nice hand written note from me and a picture of our family.

I would go with the edible arrangement too. I got one of those as a gift last year and it was awesome. Also a note and maybe a pic of your dd and a little "drawing" from her. Some of the doc put those up in the office etc.

A nice pen would be something that would be used often and something that would be personal without stepping over boundries.

How old is your child? This past year, we got our DD (who is 3 now) a T-shirt that says "I <3 My Cardiologist" from Cafe Press. We took a picture of her wearing the shirt, (at Disney!) framed it and gave it to her along with a nice note about how much we appreciate her (and wore the shirt to our next appointment). She got a HUGE kick out of the shirt and took pictures on her I-phone so she could "show people on the go." We've also gotten her wine in the past as we know she loves wine. We picked either J. Lohr (since that's her name) and some from winemakers who were doctors!

We also penned a seperate letter to the University and the Hospital about how pleased we were at the care we received at the Heart Center. We had a paragraph about the care in general and then had a paragraph each for 3 specific doctors who have gone over and beyond. I tried to be very specific about how they sought out second opinions for us, presented us with specific stats and studies when we ask questions, etc. I was told the letter had made it's way to all the Head Honchos before it got to the doctors, but that they hung it on their break room door and that everyone was so thrilled with the letter, she said some were in tears. So the written word does carry huge weight!
