I thought about this for awhile before I came up with the idea. I didn't want to buy just any old autograph book for my grandchildren, so I went to my favorite craft store and bought some Disney 3-D stickers, a nice heavy card stock sheet with stars on it, and two small spiral notebooks. A few cuts n pastes and whalla!!!! I had personalized autograph books for my grandchildren to tote around the park. The finishing touch was I purchased two Disney pens on lanyards that the girls could put thru the spiral binding or hang around thier necks. And I included an extra sheet of sparkle stickers so that they could decorate the inside of the autograph book. For anyone who is interested here's what I used....

1 package Disney 3-D Stickers
1 package sparkle letters
1 small spiral notebook
1 decorative cut sheet (Like you use in scrapbooks) you use this to cover the top of the spiral book.
glue
scissors
1 purchased Disney pen & one extra set of sparkle stars

trace around the top of the notebook on the reverse side of the cut sheet.
Cut this out and glue it to the top of the notebook.
Decorate the notebook with the 3-d Stickers
Add the child's name with the sparkle stickers
Put the pen thru the spindles on the notebook for safekeeping.

I had trouble originally posting the picture...but I figured it out.

That is really cute. One year when I went to Disney for my 9th birthday, I went with my mom and my 2 aunts and my 2 cousins. One of my cousins was around the same age as me, so my mom came up with the idea to get a blank t-shirt and a blank canvas bag and fabric markers and have the characters sign on the t-shirts and canvas bags. I still have the bag and shirt.

thats another good idea...thanks!

That is adorable!! We didnt make nice autographs like youi did but we took photos of the characters signing the autographbook with DD and pasted them on the opposite page so she had the autograph and the photo. I like yours better ;)

Thanks...DLK's mom....:) I hope the Grandchildren like them...:)

Is it okay if I borrow your idea? I'm going in 6 days so I better hurry and make some for my two youngest. It's better than buying autograph books and I love the personalization!!!

I make these for our trips. Mine are a little more involved taking alot of time though. I buy the spiral bound mini scrapbook from Michaels. I used a 6x6 book this time. I do a page specifically for the main characters. I use scrapbook papers and stickers, etc.

What I love about them is how they catch the characters attention most of the time (if they aren't too busy). For instance, Alice in Wonderland had a fit over my sons and plopped down on the ground right in the middle of Fantasyland to look at each and every page with my son.

Baloo wouldn't let us go until he got King Louie to come over and look at it.

Hmmm..... there must be some "scrappers" under those costumes ;)

I wish I was more computer literate, I could take pictures and post them. I'll try to do that one day this week. :badpc:

I made one for my daughter as well.

I used multicolored heavy paper (thin cardstock). Made a half page for each major movie / character set that my DD wanted autographs for (one on top and one on bottom). It had the name of the movie surrounded by their characters. Then the last one was Other friends and a lot of misc characters. I cut the pages in half mixed them with some empty pages punch 2 holes in them and used 2 binder rings to hold them. The front I decorated with stickers and DD's name. Laminated the front and back and it came out really cute. If I can remember where I put the template, I'll post it sometime if anyone is interested.

I had not thought about this for DD (2-1/2) prior to our first trip this past October. I was jealous when I saw kids with the personalized books as opposed to the standard book my dd had. I will be sure and make one for Haley before our trip next year.

I did the same project! I went walmart and got the stickers and the small scapbooks.BUT the covers are going to get wrecked after taking them in and out of the bag several times.
so... my question is- is there a way to cover them to keep them from getting too beaten up?

gary4jenn try covering it with clear contact paper. I did that on our last trip and the books came home looking the same as when we got there. Good luck! :wizard:

I was going to suggest clear laminate plastic, like you can buy in walmart. Its alittle heavier than contact paper, and should take the abuse of putting in and out of the bookbag.

Along with the sutograph books, I also made journals for the girls...same idea....only I did all the pages then spiral bound them. I also got clear plastic sheets for the top to protect the top of the book.

Michaels crafts, the Rag Shop or any craft supply store has Mickey Mouse 3d decals. There is also a specific website that has individual pages to print out in color, for each day of the vacation. If you go to the family area in the discussion forum they list all this kind of stuff.

I made some as well..

For about $4 I bought 6 x 6 and 8 x 6 Memory Books from Michaels. I found old birthday cards my kids had received in the past and cut the main image out and modge podge it to cover, decorated with assorted letters and stickers and modge podged on the outside as well. The inside pages are being completed by the kids with clip art and stickers I have found of several characters. I'm a newbie here I can email pics if anyone wants to see them!

I'm so glad I found this thread!! Kids and I have been trying to find a way to make our own autograph books. You all had great ideas. I think we can do it and that way everyone can personlize their own. My 10 year old will be relieved :rotfl:

You can also make them Journals to fill out for everyday of your trip.

Get two clear plastic covers and two different colored sheets (one for front & one for back)

Then go to This address where they have pages already made up for you to print out in color.

http://www.themouseforless.com/down...s/journal.shtml

get yourself some of the 3D stickers, make the cover, bind it (you can have it bound at staples for a fee) and Bingo, a personalized journal that your children will have for many years to come.

here's a picture of one of my Journals before I bound it.

found this site from Cruise critic& just love it.

I love the ideas of the home made autographs books. I'm taking my 8 year old grandson & 10 year old Goddaughter on the Disney magic April 22, 2006. I think I'll make them both a book.

Here is another tip I found out. I went on the Wonder last April with a young lady. We took pillow cases to have auto graphed, you leave them at customer relations. We have multi colored sharpies, in a few days you pick them up. Only the main chaciters(SP) signed the covers. On the last night of the cruise all the CH come out & they all signed our cases. We found out if shirts or anything have logos on they won't sign them.

Oh I tried that link some one posted for books & it has been moved

Readyto cruise :goodvibes
