We're taking my grandmother to Disney for her birthday next year and are currently in the process of getting her prepared for the trip. She hasn't flown in years and rarely drives. Only recently did NJ start requiring pictures on licesnes. Being that it didn't expire since the new rules, her current one does not have a picture on it. She did, however, just get a new Borough issued picture ID. Is this going to be acceptable or do we have to go and get her driver's license renewed? :confused3

ETA: I checked the TSA website and all it says is government issued ID. I'm hoping that since the town issued it it is considered "government issued" but you never know.

Yes, it will be fine. Happily, government means any town, state or federal agency. Have her bring her DL for backup.

It SHOULD be fine, but get there a little early incase they want to flag her for a secondary screening. It happens sometimes if you don't fir the model exactly. I know it's going to happen to me in about 18 days because when we bought our airfare, pur CC company was having problems and could not authorze any charges for anyone. So we ended up paying cash for them through Western Union so that we wouldnt lose them. Continental allows this, not sure if any others do. Anyway, since paying cash is a BIG red flag, i am already prepping my kids for the extra screening so that they don't get nervous.

If it makes you feel any better, i have heard (but dont quote me on it) that NJ will convert a non photo ID for a senior to the new digital ones for no charge. I heard it wasonly for seniots though. That whole digital ID is stupid anyway. They already have fake ones on the market.

Thank you! My parents and I are flying down in a few weeks so we're going to ask one of the TSA agents at the airport just to be on the safe side.
