ID needed to fly

It's true that the law exists, but no way are they going to essentially shut down air travel. Extensions will be granted. But maybe that's just my "who cares I already have a passport anyway" self talking. :)

IN that very article (CNN...dailymail is out of England and is a gossip site):

Before you start worrying, there are a boatload of caveats: The government's decision will apply only to people in a handful of states. It wouldn't take effect until at earliest the end of April. And DHS could still decide to postpone its decision, according to a DHS spokeswoman.

And the caveats go on and on from there.

I live in WA and yes it has been reported here but has not yet taken affect. We have passports though so it does not a effect us.

I posted about this last week. I am in one of the states but it has not been widely reported. I wonder if/when closed loop cruise rules will change.

I am in one of the states that currently has an extension but I try to travel with my passport card just in case.

The extensions have been going on for several years already. The reason its hit news again recently is there's talk about all the extensions ending. My state has been pushing the new Verified ID's the last several months and the paper work has explained that if you opt not to get the verified ID you may not be able to fly anymore using your drivers license.

I don't cruise without my passport anyway, and my recommendation would be anyone still on the fence about getting one should think about it if they live in one of the states that is still not compliant. Then they'll be good for air travel and have the added security while cruising.

Extensions were granted for states indicating a move to compliance. Minnesota is one of 3 states not extended they promise a 120 notice of applying this for air travel. It already applies to entry to a Federal Facility or building. Commercial drivers licenses do comply but try explaining that to the TSA security check when they are hearing drivers license from these states are no good.

An extension has been granted to at least October. Then they can go through this again.

Because MN did not receive extension Governor and Legislators meeting today to discuss special session since MN did not get extension to see if they can amend state requirements in order to comply.
