How can I stay on Disney property (not at a value) and get a room with a bedroom and door that closes so my hubby and I can be separate form the kids at night?

I obviously know I can get two rooms with a connecting door....but are there any other options is the $200 or less a night range?

Disney needs more suites so parents can be happier on vacation :)

The DVC stuff, even renting points, looks very pricey.

We like Residence Inn like set ups with two sleeping areas. But we want to stay on Disney property.

Looking ahead to the 2012 spring break trip.

Not sure of the price but did you look at Fort Wilderness Cabins? The bedroom has a double bed & a set of bunks. The living room has a murphy bed. Both rooms have a tv. Also there is a full kitchen.

Disney is building more family suites, Art of Animation, next to POP.

A Wilderness Cabin probably would not work since all the kids would be in the murphy bed in the living room if you want to be able to "close the door".

Try the family suites at All Star Music.

We loved these as we had a separate bedroom, small kitchenette area, and two bathrooms. :)

I don't ever travel to WDW during peak season so I'm not sure what those rates are, but I know a moderate resort (POR, POFQ, CBR, etc.) would offer connecting rooms. In the off-season they run roughly $150/night (eta: PER ROOM!)

The FW cabins do have the separate sleeping area, but as another poster pointed out, if you and DH are the ones wanting to be "closed off," then you'd have to stick all the kids in the living room. That set up works better having the kids in the bedroom. Those are pricier, though, well up over $200/night off-season.

Do you mind me asking why you don't want a Value resort? I know some people just wont' stay in them, but I'm just wondering if you need certain amenities not offered there. I just stayed at ASMusic and really liked it. It's well-themed and clean and comfortable. I'd love to stay at Pop Century, and of course the other side of the lake from what exists now, is what will become more Family Suites. Our family hasn't tried one of the current suites, but I like the lay-out and the kitchenette.

.

You won't find anything like that for under $200 on Disney property. When the rack rates at moderate resorts start at $154 during value season asking for something with 2 seperate rooms for another $50 is like wishing for the moon.

The closest thing would be the Fort Wilderness Cabins, and those start at $275 a night during value season.

Disney has all sorts of suites on-site, but you won't find them for the price point you want at the resort level you want. If you want both privacy and more amenities on Disney property, you have to expect to pay for them.

Sorry for the not so good news.

Try the Bonnet Creek Resort. It's not a Disney resort and not on the property, but close. You don't get any of the WDW benefits like EMH, Magical Express, etc., but you can save some money.

Other than that, what you want doesn't exist. And probably won't.

And Spring Break time too.....

Good luck to you....

Oooo, I somehow missed that. One room alone at a moderate resort during Spring Break is $200. Next year it will probably be a bit more.

To be honest OP I think you need to start being a bit more realistic. The combo of a lot of space and moderate amenities at less than $200 a night during Spring Break is not going to happen.

Even staying at a value resort in 2 rooms is going to cost more than $200 a night. From what I can see this year's price for 2 value rooms was $260 a night.

I think you have a lot to think about. Are you willing to pay what it will cost to stay on site in 2 rooms, or would you be happier off site?

Like the PP's said....you won't find any Disney resorts for $200 a night for a place with separate rooms. If this is important, you may want to stick with staying off property. Good luck! :goodvibes

Points are different depending on season. Also if you check out Dave's rentals, he sponsors the rent and trade boards. He sometimes runs specials, his regular prices can be expensive. But I have seen them for as little as $6 dollars per point. If a 1 bedroom is available at OKW or a standard at AKV standard or value vue it would be doable. I might also depend on how many nights you are planning on doing.

Thanks for the replies. I figured I was being unrealistic but sometimes people on the boards know so much more than I do.

I will have to resign to paying more I think or staying off site.

I like to have a hot tub and a full service food option so that is why I do not do the value resorts.

I love CSR and I could see getting connecting rooms there.

Maybe we just have to give up the idea of having any parent alone time. We are a family of four so we fit just fine at the CSR. We do not need more room. We'd just like some privacy at night if you know what I mean.

We had such a great time on our trip there last week....we are already thinking about next year.

I have a friend who is a cast member who swears he can get me rooms at 60% off rooms....but I just need to make sure this is really allowed and he will not get in trouble for reserving for us.

He can get you room for 40% without any problem. In order to get 60% off he would have to be staying there with you.

Doesn't CSR have some sort of a Suite?

CSR does have suites, but they're not in the price range the OP is looking for. Depending on season, the suites range from $400-1200 a night.

I'd also look into Bonnet Creek; it's the closest you can get to being onsite, with the type of room the OP would like to have.
