Discovery of coffee- a man called Rhozes who is a Arabian Doctor, mentions it as a medicine. It comes from about 900 BC.
The legend of Kaldi tells you the story of Kaldi the goatherd. He lived in Ethiopia about 300 AD. Kaldi once noticed that after his work the goats were eating berries and that is how they discovered coffee. Goats had been eating red berries from a tree, the tree gives you energy by the berries. He told some monks who lived nearby about this, and they used the berries in a drink to help them stay awake at night.
As for chocolate:
The Spaniards had learned its use from the Aztecs at the time of the invasion by the Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés in 1519. Cortés tasted chocolate prepared by the Aztecs and learned how to convert the bitter bean into a wonderful drink. He brought this treasure back to Spain where the origin and preparation method remained a secret for nearly 100 years.
