I saw a post about the WISH challenge on the CB, and think this is the last little push I need. I've done WW off and on with some success, but can't get myself to stick to it. I *have* to lose weight --- my family has a history of adult-onset diabetes on both sides (my dad was diagnosed a couple of years ago -- he immediately changed his eating habits, lost over 100 lbs. and now keeps it in check via exercise & diet) and I don't want to go down that road.

So, with that in mind, I'm in! I'm going to follow WW again and do my Leslie Sansone tapes. And hopefully come here for lots of support! :)

Welcome Amy!!!

We always have room for another friend over here.

This place has been so inspirational & motivating for me and a lot of others.

Good luck!

:)

Welcome, Amy!!

I'm a newbie too - just joined here last week and I'm amazed at the amount of encouragement and support to be found here. Just to come and read that others are going through the same things as I am is incredibly comforting - it's even more encouraging to see how much everyone is losing and to know that it can be done with a little - or a lot ;) of effort.

Hope you stick around!

Welcome to WISH Amy. My husband is a type II diabetic and has brought his blood sugar under control (finally) by controlling his carbohydrate intake.

I'm glad you decided to join us. We have a great support group and love seeing new faces. Grab your clipart and join in. Visit us often and no fair lurking.

There is a great post telling you how to add the WISH clipart to your signature right HERE. It was written by our own Jody (Wovenwonder) and she did a great job with it.

I'm so glad to see you here :)

Thanks everyone! :teeth: I appreciate the kind welcome.

I have to admit I wish I was more enthusiastic about the healthy weight process -- at this point I'm just going to make myself do it every day and hope and pray it becomes a habit and then a permanent lifestyle.

Katholyn: That's *great* that your dh has his diabetes in check. Controlling carbs -- ah, my greatest weakness! :)

I've added the clip art to my signature to be a constant reminder of my goal! Now I'm going to go and read past threads here -- looks like there's a lot of good info posted. :)

Hello and welcome, Amy!

You are really smart to nip things in the bud, so to speak. I know a few people with diabetes and some of them just seem so forlorn about the whole sugar issue. Look at it this way, if you do stick to a healthy program and lose the weight and get away from the 'danger zone' you will be able to lead a long and happy and healthy life that still includes all the foods you enjoy!!! :)

It takes time, but once you really stick to it for a while, it does become second nature. I used to walk around the kitchen grabbing handfuls of cashews or candy to munch on. Or I'd just pour a big glass of juice and not think about how many calories were in it. Cheese was my biggest downfall and I didn't think I could ever live without it.

This is the start of my fourth week on WW and I am loving it. I have all my meals planned out in advance. I am enjoying all the added veggies in my diet. I LOVE chicken, so that helps! :) And sweets of any kind right now do not tempt me (nachos do, but sweets don't!)

Glad you decided to join us. You will find and endless amount of support here. Just know that if WE can do it, you can too!!!!

That is *so* true!! And that's what I keep telling myself. My poor dad is one of those forlorn people you mentioned -- he indulged for too long and is paying for it now. I don't want that to be my future.

I *will* be in control of my future --I *will not* let a cookie push me around! :teeth:
