Does anyone have ideas about IDs for little kids in case they get separated from their parents at WDW? Thanks!

here is a tip from the Disney Magazine

Guest Relations gives out tags that have your child's name on it..and you can add the hotel name to it?? It's written as a tip in the Disney Magazine this month

Our local Walmart has a machine in the "lobby" that has id tags for $5. They look just like dogtags. I got one in the shape of a heart, printed with our cell phone number. It goes right on her shoelace.

The police department in our area does "Identi-kid" cards. It is a photo ID that includes a finger print and their information. You can get multiple copies so you can keep one and keep one with your child.

I have also heard that taking a poloroid of your child before you head out each day is a good idea -- In an emergency could you : remember what clothes your child was wearing today? Birthmarks, current scars/boo boos? Ht/wt, color of eyes/hair etc... the photo could make a difference for police/security to locate child if he/she got lost. Especially a very young child who would not be able to communicate -- or too frightened to remember what hotel you are staying at.
I like the idea of the ID tags too - either permanent or tossable wrist bands. I know that here in MN at Mall of America they give away wristbands -- you write the info on the INSIDE of the band and clip them on (like hospital bands).Having the name /info on the less visible area protects your child from strangers saying " I know your name so its ok for you to come with me" I think a tag on a shoe would be nice however-- what if you change shoes? or what if child takes their shoes off at some point... just a thought.... also a good idea is to talk to your child with a plan...... "what would you do if?"..... and show them what people would help them (such as looking for a CM tag, location of police office etc...)

Thanks for the responses! I need something that can be used if we get separated, but something that she cannot remove easily.

I am curious, since I also live in MN, where at the Mall of America did you get the IDs? Thanks!

We made business cards with DD's (who is 5) name, parents' names, cell phone numbers, hotels and numbers, and grandpa's number back in TX just in case we had any problems with our cell phone. That way she could be reassured by a familiar voice. We had her carry it in her pocket. Thank God we never needed it.

It has been awhile since I last picked one of those up.
They use to have them available at each desk (as you enter the Mall) for free on the Family Tuesdays-- which I guess are now Family Fridays??
Ask the people at the desk near the Rotunda/Sam Goody area (near the Underwater place) if they still have them.
They also have a Florida Vacation store in that area- they usually have brochures and coupons of different places to go while in FL... they also try to sell you time shares so watch out...
Good luck!

I ordered one for my 3 yr old las year and it came within a week (and I live in Scotland, UK!)
- excllent service.
It works very well. It is a soft flexible velcro strap that goes around their wrist. On the inside is a slot for a note to write details of the child name and how to contact you (plus anything you want). You get plemty of cards since details might change as you move around (eg you might change hotels during your stay).
It is impossible for the child to get the strap off their wrist as the velcro is incrediby strong - it needs an adult to do it. My son completely forgot he had his on as it is very comfortable.

go to: kinderstart.com. You can fill in child information, scan a photo and print as many as you need for free. We are going in November with 3 children and I printed 3 of each child. They will each hold their own and two adults will hold a full set of all three children. I put the cell phone # that we will be carrying and listed the hotel # where we will be staying on the back.

I like what MacDalton said about the "dog tags" at Wal-Mart. We are going to be doing this for our next WDW trip, which is in October. Attaching it to the laces of the shoes is a good idea...
