Hi! Just wondering if it's a good idea to have ID bracelets for the kids in case they happen to get lost in the parks? Not sure if their Magic Bands will have this info already (ie. child's name and parent contact number)? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

There have been no reports of magic bands being used to retrieve parents information. We use safety tats when we take our kids

If Magic Bands can tell when you are seated at BOG they can find someone in the parks. I dare say Disney doesn't advertise this and would probably only be used in an extreme circumstances. Even still we are getting id braclets for our kids just so it's easier and faster if the situation arises. Also they are harder to get off then magic bands and require something sharp to do so.

Disney has claimed no ability to track throughout the park using your MB. They can in places like BOG I presume because they have ID scanners throughout the table area, just like they can track you as you go through the picture area on rides.

If you are nervous about a kid running off, you could tape (or glue) contact information on the inside of the MB.

At bog all the seats are near readers, so they can read you band from there. The amount of passive readers that would be needed to cover the entire park would be in the thousands. Not very cost effective. Even if a cm could read a band the information they have access to is limited. A shop cm can charge to your card but not check tickets, an attractions cm can check your fp but not your charges etc. there is possibly some high level security people that can access a persons entire record but in the case of a lost child, the amount of time it would take to contact the correct person and get them to the child or vice versa far exceeds the the amount of time it would take for a cm to see a tattoo or other visible phone number, and call it.
So no Disney has not claimed they can track a lost child via a magic band.

Thanks for your replies everyone! Will definitely bring the ID bracelets with us. Don't want to take any chances.

Ok thx Gracie09.

I would recommend SafetyTats as well. I have 4 small children and I was so nervous about one of them wandering off or getting lost in the crowds. They are so easy to apply, are highly visible & once applied they lasted the entire week of our trip. I would also recommend snapping a quick photo of your child before entering the park. If a child does get lost, they will ask you what your child is wearing. If your child is a little older you can agree on a meeting place should you get separated. Strollers are a life-saver when the crowds are really dense. Highly recommend using one, even if your child typically wouldn't ride in one. The Disney strollers can handle older kids.

Thanks for the great tip! Will for sure take photos of the kids each day.

Instead of safety tats, we just wrote with a sharpie and used liquid bandage over it. Cost less than $5 and no special order.

Next time I recommend you use Magic Your Band and make a custom magicband cover. I made the one pictured below for DS(5) to wear for our up coming trip. I put a marker over our phone number but you can get the idea. You design how you want the band to look by up loading your favorite photos and adding your contact number to it if you like. Magic your band is also an approved seller and sponsor of this site.

I just put: If Found Call (000) 000-000
