Had to bring Milo to the vet this morning. When I got home on Thursday, Milo had bitten a bald spot near his tail from fleas. :( We've switched the dogs (today) from Frontline to Advantage b/c vet said advantage works better. At the vet, Milo also had a flea bath, medicated bath, and two pills (antibiotics) to take for 10 days. We sprayed the yard this morning w/ flea stuff. Anything else I can do? We have hard wood floors, so carpet isn't an issue. Thanks!

skuttle -- I brought a feral kitten into my home without thinking about fleas. Before you know it, my dog had a bald spot and was chewing his fur like crazy! Yup, along with the kitten, I brought in fleas. ACK! So, my Lab and all SEVEN cats had fleas! :( It was gross! I used Advantage, and they were all gone after the first treatment, but I used a second treatment on them just to make sure. Since then, no fleas whatsoever. :) That was two years ago. Your puppies should be okay after using the Advantage. :)

You should probably use a flea bomb in your house. You don't want the dog to get them back and they could be on the upholstered furniture. When my dogs had fleas years ago, it was while I was moving. I had to spray/bomb both homes and yards and dip the dogs at the same time so they weren't re-ifested. What a mess. Now they stay on the preventative year round. My vet jokes how my dogs NEVER have fleas now.

When I was pregnant with DS3, we put our dog in a kennel for 3 days. Guess what he came home with?? Fleas! The vet kept telling us that we needed to use one of the flea bombs in our house. My OB kept telling me I'd need to move out for 2 weeks. It's was terrible. I had no place I could go for 2 weeks.

So, as a last ditch effort our vet suggested we try something kind of strange. The vet put our male dog on a birth control pill in the hopes of stopping the fleas from being able to produce. It worked like a charm. Fleas were gone in no time.:D

Wow cgcw. I never thought of that! I have to board my dog in a few months for about 2 weeks. I think I'll put him back on the Advantage about a week before we leave as a prevenative! :)

For the house, Bengal Flea spray is great. I don't have any good suggestions for the pup.

We had 3 dogs and 2 cats at one time, and we bombed the house when we went away for the weekend. That worked, but it was a major pain in the butt. The next time, we used Advantage on all the animals, and it worked like a charm within a day or two. We've never had a problem since, and we now have 4 dogs and 3 cats. I swear by Advantage.

Thanks everyone...I hope Advantage works for us since Frontline didn't work that well. I don't want to bomb the house or spray the house if at all possible since I'm pregnant. I think our main problem is the yard. There are TONS of dogs in the neighborhood that are always being walked...we live on a corner so we don't really have a back yard, but we do have a fenced front yard so that's where our dogs go and, of course, that's where all the neighborhood dogs pass by while walking. When we first moved in, our neighbor warned us that we might have a flea problem because of all the dogs..he was right...we never had a flea problem in our apartment. Hopefully Advantage will work!!
