Okay, our new favorite (or at least most-played) Disney film is The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad

So... have any of you ever seen these characters and/ or thier co-stars inside DL at any time during the year (beyond the cutouts in the Mr. Toad ride in FL)? No hallucinations, please!

;)

No I have never seen them , not even in a parade. :confused3 I wonder why , most are in the parades at least.

I think they're a little bit too obscure and old to be in any current parades.

In my dreams! I would LOVE to see Toad in the parks! I know of another DISSER who would too. . . sure he'll pipe in here soon.

The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad just got added to my netflix list, I have not seen that in years!

I never thought of it before, but it is surprising that they don't have these characters in the parks... I can't remember them during my childhood, either. So sad!!

One of the best things about my GradNight was having Mr. Toad's Wild Ride break down while I was on it and getting to walk my way out.

jemilah, don't tell anyone this.....but I always thought the movie (s) - two little movies in one - were kind of weak compared to the Disney movies before & after it.

Let this be our secret though, cause I always LOVED the ride & I love the theming of Toadie at DL....so everyone here figures I must LOVE the movie. So don't tell anyone.....especially DangerMouse. :cool2:

Hound <------Loves Toadie ride, but loves the Movie Pinocchio the best. :)

I tend to agree with you, Hound, about the Ichabod/Toad movies being on the weak side compared to the true Disney classics. I enjoy having the movie to show to my kids so that they understand and appreciate the ride at DL. My favorite Disney movie is Alice in Wonderland and my favorite DL character is Alice, but I much prefer Toad's ride over Alice's at DLR.

We love this ride!! It's one that my girls look forward to riding every time. In fact they insisted we ride it a lot on our last trip. lol We only actually made it on twice though, it was down a lot when we were there. Jade has a book of Mr Toad stories, I really should rent the movie so they can watch it, I bet they would enjoy it.

I wish they had the characters out......

OP...sorry for hijacking your Toady Thread....but it's hard not to think about the the classic Disney Movies..... when one gets to ride the great FL dark rides.

DangerMouse, I love the Alice movie & ride, too. (& the book for that matter). There are many times in life I feel like i fell thru that rabbit hole. :lmao: Our family actually seeks out other movie versions of Alice to watch.

BOT - Doesn't everybody love to take a pic with ol' Toad when you're in line and about to board the cool 1920s cars?

& try as i might to drive properly......guess where the judge always sends me to??!!!

(& they traded in our Toad for..... Pooh at WDW.....jeesh).

Hound your secret is safe with me..............I'll still watch the movie for research purposes of course.

We never had this conversation...........:cool2: :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 . :cool2: . :)

& jade, that sounds like the movie we are discussing.

Jade & jem, i didn't mean to suggest the Todie / Ichabod movie wasn't a good movie (especially for kids). It's just after Snowie, Pinocchio & Alice.....which are classic all time movies (for any aged viewer), imo the Toadie movie wasn't on THAT level. But a fun flick with 2 different storys & two funny main characters.

(i remember watching it as a very young kid - probably on Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights - & being VERY scared of the Headless Horseman  . Dude was unrelenting.....kind of a Dis Terminator.

Wow-- I didn't think so many of you would launch into commentaries on the movie, but I guess that's inevitable with all things Disney. ;)

We LOVE the movie. Sure, it's not the self-aware "classic" like Snow White, but it really holds up well over the years. I only remembered a little bit of the Ichabod segment (okay, just the chase scene like everybody else) from the old Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights back in the 70s, but we feel like we've rediscovered a really overlooked and long forgotten Disney gem.

The Mr. Toad feature might get off to a little bit of a slow start, but that's intentional. J. Thaddeus' mania wouldn't be half as much fun if we weren't first introduced to his stodgy friends Rat, Mole and Badger. Once the story gets rolling, it's totally infectious. Greed, escape, trial, incarceration, escape again, and a good ol' counterplot. Hollywood would only be so lucky to turn out something so intriguing in a live-action flick these days!

popcorn::

The Ichabod feature is simply the best film adaptation to date of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It stays pretty true to the original Irving story, adds a fun musical take on it, and concludes in what is still a pretty harrowing chase scene. --Sure puts Johnny Depp's Sleepy Hollow debacle in its place!

Okay, I'm off "Merrily... to nowhere in particular!" :cool2:
