Hi all! Just a quick question. We are trying to maximise the QSDP and share meals etc. Would it be ok to get your entree, dessert and a side (instead of a soda) and ask for ice water for free on the same order? I know some people say not to complicate things by using the dining plan and then adding other things or asking to pay cash but would that be ok or do CMs get annoyed when people do this?

It would be o.k. and the CM shouldn't get annoyed. That's not saying they won't, but technically they shouldn't.

They charge you the one credit whether you take the soda or not. Maybe I don't understand you. Are you saying you want to trade a soda for a side?

I don't know about "side" but I do know according to new dining plan rules you can sub a snack for the drink or the dessert (not sure about getting 2 snacks as in 1 for each) but it has to be done then. It isn't like you get a snack credit added on for later use

Yes that's what I meant, so an entree, dessert and a snack as the quick service meal and then add on an ice water. I just didn't know whether the cast members get annoyed with people who do this! Planning on sharing meals so trying to get the most for our money!

You'll be fine, but have you really done the math? If you're sharing meals, then I assume you'll be using some credits for breakfast. At breakfast, you do not get the dessert entitlement, but only the entree and drink. That brings the value of that meal WAY down. Your QS credits are worth about $18.

Not only is it OK in theory, I've done it. My wife doesn't drink soda, so unless there was a specialty lemonade or something she wanted, we often swapped her drink for an extra side/dessert and she got ice water. Frankly, we usually ordered an ice water for everyone, regardless of whether they got another drink, just to keep hydrated.

Edited to add: the snack/desert you trade for, of course, has to qualify as a DDP snack credit item.

Please let us know what swaps you were able to make. I'm very curious how I can use this strategy to meal share
Yes please do! I don't drink soda myself and planned on getting water with my meals anyway. I know I'll be sharing most of my meals with DD who just turned 1 so an extra side would be very helpful.

I like to share with my youngest just because I am not really hungry when it is hot out and he never finishes anyway, he also always wants chocolate milk. So now I can get a meal with dessert and water plus a side and just pay for chocolate milk.
Example , last year we got pizza w/ salad and a tea plus dessert,he got milk I had the salad and tea him the pizza and milk and shared dessert. But this year I can get water instead of a drink and add, say fries.
I am leaving in 8 days so I Just want to be sure so I don't look dumb ordering..... Thanks

Yes, that will work as long as the place you're eating has fries on the snack item menu. You may want to take a look at some menus to know where the best places are to share.

There's no charge for ice water so it should not be any sort of issue at all. Just make sure they understand that you are ordering a cup of ice water and not a bottle of water.

Here now and was not able to sub drink at contempo Cafe or bog.

You need to take this up with someone in upper management. Get your DDP brochure out of your room and show the fine print to someone. There's no reason you should not be able to do it.

I was actually surprised when this happened bc of all the talk on here about being able to do it. Will look for brochure.

It is happening. I guess there is print in the brouchure that allows changes to be made at any time. There is a thread that is discussing the BOG swap, or lack of swap, that is.

I think that when the plan was offered, it sounded reasonable to allow the beverage swap, but in practice it made no financial sense for the restaurant to sub a 2.50 soda for a 6.50 bowl of soup.

I understand that, but I would still take it up with someone up the ladder. The easiest and best resolution to this for BoG is to take the purple logo off the soup!!
